Design
In terms of design, text is often synonymous with cumbersome and bulky. Here, Nokia wanted to combine professional with compactness. While the E65 is devoid of full keyboard and its screen is less comfortable than a Nokia E61, but at least it is in your pocket.
The size slider displays worthy of a conventional mobile: 105 x 49 x 15.5 mm. Only the weight is a bit high (115 grams). Cause: stainless steel finishes that add weight on the scale. Available in red or black, the E65 combines plastic soft touch coating and imitation leather.
The result is remarkable elegance. The sliding of the slide is exemplary, with a bit of resistance, very significant.
The facade is mainly occupied by the display 16 million colors. The latter has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The backlight is convincing, and even in a bright environment, the display remains readable.

Part joystick houses the usual controls: a directional pad, shortcut menu, phonebook, answer / end, return. Despite their small size, the buttons are ergonomic and errors are very rare. The keyboard, meanwhile, a great comfort. The keys are slightly curved wide and well spaced.
On the right portion, there are buttons for adjusting the volume and a button dedicated to writing messages. Given the claims of multimedia terminal, it regrets the lack of direct access buttons to the camera or MP3 player.
On the back of the unit, found the photo sensor with a resolution of 2 megapixels. Too bad the flash is not the game.

In our tests, performed in Paris, the terminal has alternated between Edge and 3G networks, but with a clear preference for the former. In terms of WiFi, the E65 was easily connected to our Freebox.

Edge, 3G, WiFi, the device is comfortable on all networks. Peculiarity of the E65: SIP compatibility. Featuring a guest voice over IP (VoIP technophiles), the terminal connects to your WiFi or Freebox Neufbox and lets you make phone calls free over the Internet. The setup is rather simple since it is sufficient to complete several fields in the "Settings / Connection / SIP settings / Add a new fashion."
The E65 is therefore needed as a reference in terms of connectivity. No one to report, 3G + compatibility.

Despite the lack of autofocus, the camera of the Nokia E65 delivers very accurate results. If they are, of course, incomparable to those achieved with a Nokia N93 or N73, they offer a good dive.
Obviously, the contrast between the first and second plan is not convincing, requires no autofocus!
In contrast, the sensor operates very well the differences of light. The highlights are only slightly burned. And when the brightness decreases, the photos are relatively light.
However, the lack of flash prohibits all shooting in low light environment. The colors are true to the original subjects. Special mention to the yellow and red are vibrant.
Rendering on the terminal screen is superb. Thank you to 16 million colors! It is possible to envisage a drawing on paper, but only in a 10 x 15 cm.
Transfer to computer is entirely feasible. If the E65 can not replace your digital camera you will still take good pictures.

The videos are confined to remain in the phone memory. The resolution, even maximum is too low to obtain acceptable rendering. It will limit you to sending films via MMS.
