The Nokia C5-03 has a 5 megapixel camera, 4x digital zoom. It also has bluetooth, wifi.
It has an internal memory of 40 MB Nokia C5-03 is compatible with Quadband networks.

Introduction

Following the Nokia C5, we've been able to test (read the review of the Nokia C5), the Finnish manufacturer stays the course by proposing a variation of this entry-level alphanumeric keypad. With the Nokia C5-03, there are indeed a substantially different format, since this is a very tactile. It required no less a test to check if the C5-03 is up to his big brother.

Package Contents

Nokia has accustomed us to better, but can we ask more of an entry-level? With the C5-03, Finn provides the bare minimum for a classical usage. The charger, hell and damnation, is still equipped with this tiny outlet owner of Nokia, after a non-removable cable. Fortunately for the head in the air which tend to lose their chargers, the C5-03 comes with a USB cable for both data transfer as the battery charge ... and not exceeding 20 centimeters. A low profile is certainly convenient when said cable from slipping into a bag, but a little more debilitating for users of desktop computers. Only users with laptops end up there - almost. A headset is also provided - nothing really changed, but enough to get out without problem. As usual, is wonderful at Nokia, the kit contains a mini-references explaining how to service the terminal, which ultimately can not refuse. Note that to supplement the internal memory of his C5-03, rather skinny with 40 MB, Nokia has included a microSD memory card of 2 GB in the terminal, the latter does not require removing the battery.

Design and finishes

Where Nokia had a terminal monobloc very conventional alphanumeric keypad with its C5-00, the builder returns to any touch, inescapable, especially among younger people. That is the target of the manufacturer, which has as its mobile-oriented social networking and entertainment. The C5-03, logically, comes in colors: gray or white entirely for the more sober, green, or blue, as the phone we've tested. Here, only the bottom of the mobile is colored, for some discretion. Although the rear seat, a little cheap plastic, has been given a glossy finish, the whole does not bode well if dropped.

Even if it is a touch mobile, Nokia has chosen to include a physical button bar below the screen: answer, hang up, and in the middle menu. On the right portion of the mobile, there is the adjustment bar of the mobile and the lock button on the phone. Above, a 3.5 mm jack and a microSD slot, while the charging port is located under the terminal. It is rather puzzled by the choice of Nokia, which prefers to keep a charger in a proprietary format, so it still includes a microSD slot.

Since it must be mentioned, talking about the screen of the Nokia C5-03: as said, it is far from being the highlight of the mobile. There are two types of touchscreens: capacitive and resistive and. The capacitive touch require only to recognize the user's hand, while a resistive pressure requires much more important (in fact it was used with a stylus in its infancy). Out of fashion in most manufacturer is yet to resistive Nokia turned. Conclusion is simple, for this 3.2-inch screen (reasonable size for a mobile in this range) with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels (nHD) also completely honest: it would almost regret the absence a stylus, especially when it comes to click on one of the "widgets" found on the home screen, or surf the Internet. For accuracy, we can forget, and do not hesitate to press hard on the screen to get a reaction.
Overall utilization

If Nokia describes its C5-03 smartphone, do not expect crazy features on this model. One would expect that it is equipped with Symbian ^ 3 in the manner of a C7: nay, these are Symbian S60 5th edition, and it's not quite the same story. First, the office has only one screen (customizable, it goes without saying), which are inserted widgets, two bars giving to see the status of the inbox and that of WiFi networks. Basic home screen that has four shortcuts in the form of icons to the main functions of the Mobile Messaging (which centralizes SMS, MMS and e-mails), the camera, the Assistant Store and Ovi navigation. Everything is configurable, whether the provision of general office, or icons that are displayed.

Let's start with one of the most important functions of the C5-03: its messaging. We discover, in the SMS inbox of the overall presentation of messages in a list and not the son of conversation, far from ideal to search for old messages. To type text to send, there is an alphanumeric keypad in portrait mode, thankfully replaced with a full keyboard in landscape mode.

As often happens with older versions equipped Nokia Symbian when it comes to email is another story. The mailbox easily configurable, even if the correct parameters are set, there may not be possible to send its own e-mails ...

Clearly dedicated to young audiences, the C5-03 integrates perfectly social networks. These (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and YouTube) are indeed grouped into a single folder, inside the main menu. The applications themselves, easily and quickly configurable, can stay connected to their contacts continuously and smoothly. If this is the general speed, necessarily modest, since the C5-03 is limited to the Edge network.

Another good point of the C5-03: its browser Ovi Maps. Free, as always it helps to identify pedestrian routes or car, but also access to weather information, guides Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor advice. Points of interest are also identified numerous. This feature remains one of the strengths of Nokia. Like its Ovi Store increasingly provided, which allows access to many applications. To download them, they naturally prefer to connect via WiFi (for that, and it is impractical, you should go in the settings of the mobile, or through the widget embedded on the home screen) rather than go through the wireless network. Downloaded applications are then integrated into the folder "Applications" menu, itself highly classical, since it represents only 12 sub-menus. Note that to access the complete configuration of the mobile (mobile internet connection for example), you have to go in the sub-menu "Applications" and then in the Tools folder ... This does not guess!

To end the chapter of the overall use of the C5-03, both simple and ergonomic, it should be noted autonomy rather weak due to a battery of 1000 mAh can count on two days, which is very little, considering the potential of such a terminal.
Multimedia and photo

Like any self-respecting smartphone, the C5-03 is equipped with an Internet browser. Yet he still had that integrates mobile ergonomic: it must go through the options to enter the URL to which you wish to access. The sites are not optimized for the screen, so you have to scroll horizontally and vertically on the page to access the information sought. In short, the navigation is slow, illegible, it remains operational, but difficult to use on a daily basis, while the use of the applications of Ovi Store is much more functional.

Since Ovi Store or from your personal library, the music is intended to integrate the mobile. Pity though that the music player is not wildly ergonomic, although various adjustments are possible (bass boost, jazz, etc..). Of note is a breath very soon as this increases the speaker's sound - it is better to emphasize the use of headphones.

Next picture, we find in the NKIA C5-03 5-megapixel sensor. The settings are also quite numerous in comparison to the limited capabilities of mobile as a whole. It is possible to determine the exposure, white balance, light sensitivity, or switch to black and white or sepia. Different scene modes are available: Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, or Automatic. Too bad Nokia has not included a dedicated button for the picture: you have to press directly on the screen to trigger the capture, a system much less practice it is a resistive screen on which we must press hard. In terms of results, as often with cell phone, the record is far superior in external conditions, with a proper brightness. Even if the colors are true to life, indoors, the sharpness is frankly mediocre, with a grainy effect on almost all the shots. The movie mode is for its anecdotal, and we see the ability to watch YouTube videos in full screen mode, by applying pre-recorded in the mobile.
