Sendo M550

The M55 takes a look resolutely for youth and is distinguished by its functionality "image and his" color screen, MMS, Cubase, QuickPic camera ...

4096 color screen and hybrid design
The M55 is a mobile design ... rather surprising. The "Scorpion" is not in stealth but still a strong unit. With a new keyboard, the original aesthetics of the M55 is based in part on incandescent light-emitting diodes located on the side edges of the phone. As a result, your M55 flashes to alert you to an incoming call or message (system alert "Dynamic Light"). This signal can be associated with a particular contact in the phonebook. Can not miss a call, even at night or in the darkest places connected.

Like the SL55, the M55 has an average screen size (3 cm x 2.4 cm), capable of displaying 4096 colors (101 x 80 pixels), and you can customize the wallpaper and screensavers. However, the color rendering is not the strong point of the device that gives the impression of being in front of a 256 colors a 4096 color.

Features "image and sound"
The M55 is a phone designed to target young, hungry for customization and differentiation. Siemens has not hesitated to incorporate Steinberg Cubase DJ. This is a software to compose or to mix tunes and share them with friends. These very personal mix can be inserted into multimedia messages (MMS), used as ringtones or sent to friends who in turn adapt their style and will circulate. The M55 supports 16-tone polyphonic melodies (MIDI) and Stereo (wav).

With games Cliff Diving, Skateboarding and Mountain Biking integrated M55, no respite from the pace and feel to the rendezvous. The bored who believe they have exhausted all the pitfalls of these games will choose to download more game applications through Java ™ technology.

The many features of the M55 make it a complete terminal and Practice: Tri-band GPRS Class 8 WAP 1.2.1 browser, handsfree and voice control, PC synchronization (Microsoft Outlook ™), download logos, ringtones, applications, screensavers, screen ...
Only downside for techies: no infrared port or Bluetooth connection.

A digital camera with flash
Equipped with an optional digital camera with flash, QuickPic Camera IQP-530 (99 EUR price remains), the M55 takes photos day or night. Photos can be sent from the phone to an e-mail or MMS to another phone. They may also be associated with a phonebook.

Designed for a younger audience, the M55 goes further than its predecessor, the M50 by adding a color screen, a true music publisher (Cubasis Mobile) and a digital camera. If the screen could have been better bill, the M55 remains a complete mobile and fun.

Sendo X

The Sendo X is a smartphone, including the best technology, integrating multiple multimedia applications: camera, camcorder, video player, MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, infrared and USB multi-mode browser, PC syncing, a memory integrated and well more, allowing users to view, listen, surf and act more.

Sendo M570

The M570 fill the gaps in his little brother, the M550. We therefore expected an enhanced version of this product in entry-level Sendo.

The design slightly extravagant touches has been redesigned to be more consistent, and the screen should be better, thanks to technology and UFB display a greater number of colors (65,536 against 4,096 for the M550).

Other news now essential: the ability to send and receive multimedia messages and downloading Java games.

Sendo P600

The P600 is a camera phone equipped with a VGA sensor (640 * 480 pixels). Unfortunately, the P600 does not make videos. Moreover, this dual-band phone also embeds a browser WAP 2.0, GPRS, MMS and Java, a memory for 100 SMS and polyphonic ringtones.
The screen can display 65,536 colors at a resolution of 128 * 128 pixels.

The technological content of P600 is however very far from convincing: only 3.7 MB of memory, absence of infrared port, function, hands-free voice commands ...

Sendo S600

The S600 will be the first phone Sendo sold with a camera (with the Sendo X smartphone) and using technology Sendo Xoom. The news from the S300 are numerous.

To begin therefore by the camera: VGA sensor (300,000 pixels) that lets you take pictures with a choice of 5 sizes, 2 finer image and the presence of a balance, a night mode, the possibility of effects and editing your photos.

Philips 535

The 535 replaces the 530 out in autumn 2003. If the 530 was the first Philips mobile phone to be able to integrate the camera function via an external module, the 535, it integrates directly the photo sensor on the back of the phone to use more comfortable.

Display 65,536 colors
Very clever person who can discern the 535 of the 530 because the manufacturer Philips has simply taken the same design. But returning the 535, we find a photo sensor with a mirror: that's the whole point of 535, an integrated camera!

We thus find the rounded shape of 530, the navigation key - how Alcatel One Touch - and its display 65,536 colors. Its keyboard is composed of a multitude of keys. In addition to 12 standard alphanumeric keys, buttons answer / hang up, 2 softkeys below the display (direct access Cameras and keyboard lock), Philips had the good idea to add 2 buttons placed directly above the screen: the key MMS (which replaces the radio button FM 530) and BeDJ.
Two volume buttons are also present on the left side, and the infrared port on the right side. In terms of connectivity, there are two entries: one for the charger and the other for headphones (Dynamic Bass Boost) not included.

At the design level we notice the disappearance of the diodes placed on the sides (2 * 2) 530 which illuminated your phone when you receive a call. Damage.

The main screen 535 is a TFT (128 x 128 pixels - 27 * 27 mm) capable of displaying 65,536 colors. The quality of the screen is correct both at the level of brightness and color rendition. As usual, we offer a menu Philips 'carousel' (presentation circular icons):
• Settings: sounds, display, voice commands, voice dialing, date, language, profiles ...
• Messages: SMS management, MMS, e-mail
• Multimedia: album music and images, camera, BeDJ, state memory, recordings
• Games and Applications: breakout, converter, calculator, alarm clock, organizer
• Infrared: reception, data
• Info Call: call list, setting the call counters
• Directory: Contact Management
• Operator Services: WAP access and services of your operator.

The menu 535 is at pretty much identical to that of 530.

A "530" with integrated camera
Goodbye Camera Module rotating 360 ° was grafted on the phone 530; hello integrated camera! With the touch access to the camera, you will be able to take your pictures in 2 clicks. Once in camera mode, you will be able to choose the resolution - VGA (640 * 480), QVGA (320 * 240), SQVGA (160 * 120) or 128 * 128 pixels - mode (day or night) the self-timer, effects (black and white, sepia), zoom.

Once stored photos, you can send them via MMS, e-mail or to your PC via the infrared port (cable data not available). Philips has not forgotten to include the function 'Fotocall' to attach a photo to a contact so that the picture appears when that person calls. Better! You will also be possible to associate your MMS voice message or a comment (so Vox Alcatel MMS).

According to the manufacturer, you will be able to store up to 100 images in phone memory (2 MB), but on a table rather fifty photos in VGA format (40 KB on average).

The picture quality is good both on screen 535 (color rendition, sharpness of the resolution) and PC. You can realize the quality of photos taken from the camera module by viewing the photographs available on the website forum.

The Fototalk more, FM radio and less
The Philips 530 put music to honor integrating FM radio and BeDJ function. Unfortunately, radio is no longer present on this new version, but the music publisher BeDJ, He is there! It lets you create and save your creations made from pieces and sounds recorded in the phone or by downloading new samples on the Internet. A small tracker actually, but still capable of handling 9 tracks.

The Philips 535 incorporates of course all the usual functions: WAP / GPRS Class 10, IR port, vibrator, hands free (speaker phone), SMS / EMS / MMS, T9, voice recognition and voice commands, voice memo, a internal phone book of 300 contacts, alarm clock, calculator, converter, e-mail client ...
The Philips 535 does not support Java, but a simple game 'Breakout' which will struggle to convince gamers.

After proudly launched the 530 and the camera module, Philips seems to reconsider his choice by launching a new version of its model, this time, an integrated camera. The Philips 535 incorporates without complex design of the 530 released in Fall 2003: rounded, navigation key, direct access to MMS and BeDJ ... For the rest, the 535 is a clone of the 530, except the addition of FotoTalk function that lets you send MMS pictures with a voice message (MMS Vox way of Alcatel), and disappearance of features like FM radio or the lack of stereo headphones.

Philips 855

After 639 and his 'magic mirror', Philips innovates once again with its single opening 855 and 180 °. The phone is completely flat and open mode. The manufacturer has wanted to offer an elegant phone for shooting horizontally.

These shots are possible with a VGA sensor located on the outer cover. The functions are fairly complete picture: 4x zoom, effects (sepia, black and white negative ...), picture frames and night mode (the 855 is devoid of flash).

To store all your photos, the terminal has no less than 7 MB of storage capacity (dynamic memory with games, MMS ...). But that's not all! Philips will also offer an optional accessory that novel you will connect your phone to your TV you can view your photos. Very easy to use (cable TV + cable telephone), Link TV presents itself as a recognized immediately by the housing 855. From there you can scroll through your photos in manual or automatic (slide show) after setting the time interval between each picture display.

Philips 650

Please note that many accessories can be grafted onto the 650. Firstly the camera with a CMOS sensor capable of taking pictures in VGA size. Not to mention the TV Link: cable connects your phone to a TV and lets you view your photos.

Philips 530

It took over a year wait after the release of Philips Fisio 822/825 for marketing a new phone "type bar." The wait was not in vain since the 530 offers a rich palette in terms of functionality with a lot of news from the manufacturer: FM radio, 65,536 color screen, polyphonic ring tones 32 and camera module.

Display 65,536 colors
The 530 is like no other phone manufacturers. Its round shape, its navigation key - how Alcatel One Touch - and its 65,536 color screen make the 530 succeeded and attractive phone.

Its keyboard is composed of a multitude of keys. In addition to 12 standard alphanumeric keys, buttons answer / hang up, 2 softkeys below the display (direct access MMS and keyboard lock), Philips had the good idea to add 2 buttons placed directly above the Screen: FM Radio button and BeDJ.
Two volume buttons are also present on the left side, and the infrared port on the right side. In terms of connectivity, there are two entries: one for the charger and the other for the stereo headset (Dynamic Bass Boost) or provided the camera module (optional).

The phone stands out with its diodes placed on the sides (2 * 2) around the navigation key and above the screen. Your phone lights up when you receive a call. The effect is achieved.

The main screen 530 is a TFT (128 x 128 pixels) capable of displaying 65,536 colors. The quality of the screen is correct both at the level of brightness and color rendition. As usual, we offer a menu Philips 'carousel' (presentation circular icons):
• Settings: sounds, display, outdoor lights, voice commands, voice dialing, date ...
• Messages: SMS management, MMS, e-mail
• Multimedia: album music, FM radio, BeDJ, state memory, recording, album pictures
• Games and Applications: breakout, converter, calculator, alarm clock, organizer
• Infrared: reception, data
• Info Call: call list, setting the call counters
• Directory: Contact Management
• Operator Services: WAP access and services of your operator.

Priority to the music: Be a DJ and FM Radio
The Philips 530 is music to honor BeDJ integrating function. This editor lets you create music and save your creations made from pieces and sounds recorded in the phone or by downloading new samples on the Internet. A small tracker actually.

This is the first time a phone has a powerful software with no less than 9 tracks. To support the commercial release of 530, Philips has not hesitated to associate with such renowned DJs Carl Cox, Mauro Picotto, Cut Killer, Sander Kleinenberg and Chris Liebong that will provide exclusive content for the music function the phone.
In addition, each month, 2 exclusive tracks performed by each DJ will be available and downloadable from the Philips website.

Another new musical for Philips: the integration of a stereo FM radio. You will be able to store as many as 32 stations. The play is performed by the speaker or stereo headphones provided with the phone DBB. In 2 cases the earphones act as antenna and must be plugged. You can save up to 1 minute radio and select the recording as a ringtone.

Everything is, except perhaps the MP3 format we would have liked to have found a true "music phones".

Camera module
Another highlight of the 530: module Cameras rotating 360 ° is grafted on the phone. Available accessories for less than 70 including VAT (Ref.: A3VVAY/01P), this module will allow you to take good quality photos with 4 resolution modes available: VGA (640 * 480), QVGA (320 * 240) , SQVGA (160 * 120) and 128 * 128 pixels. Most options are present: night mode, self timer, effects (black and white, sepia, blue), zoom, quality (low, medium, high).

Once stored photos, you can send them to PC via infrared and MMS to another compatible phone or an e-mail. Philips did not forget to include the function 'Fotocall' to attach a photo to a contact so that the picture appears when the person calls.

The picture quality is really good both on screen 530 (color rendition, sharpness of the resolution) and PC. You can realize the quality of photos taken from the camera module by viewing the photographs available on the website forum.

The Philips 530 incorporates of course all the usual functions: WAP / GPRS Class 10, IR port, vibrator, hands free (speaker phone), SMS / EMS / MMS, T9, voice recognition and voice commands (15), Memo Voice (1 minute), a directory of 300 internal contacts, alarm (buzzer, bell, radio or memo), calculator, converter, e-mail client, calendar lunar ...
Gamers will return to a game of "breakout" and can download more via the engine of In-Fusio.

The 530 supports BMP, JPEG, GIF and MIDI sounds. Only downside to point out the lack of data cable and software suite for transferring data. No cables are provided for this device or PC suite. Damage.

There was a long time since we had not Philips introduced a phone too innovative. The 530 is an amazing phone that should appeal to a younger audience with its colorful presentation and music functions. Not to mention the quality of photos taken with the camera module. A model that gives breath to Philips believed to be lacking inspiration.

Philips Fisio 311

Philips introduces its new range of mobile phones called: Fisio. The first model sold by the Dutch manufacturer is a telephone entry level: the Fisio 311.

This new series presents innovations especially as regards design. Philips has abandoned the narrow lines and long for a greater proportion between height and width. The length of the antenna is also reduced compared to previous models Philips.

The Fisio 311 is a portable lightweight (114 grams), and a surprisingly compact, offering a good grip of the device. The screen, high resolution graphics and is large and legible. Regarding the GUI, note the disappearance of the carousel menu so dear to the manufacturer the benefit of very large icons showing the different menu items.

The terminal has many functions for an entry-level phone: WAP browser (Phone.com), voice commands, voice dialing (5 locations), vibrator, T9 dictionary to write text messages, date, time and alarm clock, calculator and currency converter, stopwatch, 30 ring tones with the ability to download new SMS, the sending of graphical icons from a fifty available, 5 animated screensavers and a game (breakout).

We still regret the absence of an internal phone book (remember to choose a large memory SIM card). Finally a bonus: the battery, Ni-MH 670 mAh, allows an autonomy of 400 hours of standby (from the manufacturer) and from 4.30 in conversation.

The Fisio 311 is a dual band phone fairly complete as regards functions, and offering good value for money. Provided essential assets such as WAP, and voice commands, it is perfect for occasional use.

Users of the Philips brand were certainly long time ... The manufacturer had no real news out since the summer of 2002 (Fisio 825 and 625) (!) A peak in the highly competitive today what has become mobile.

The most demanding of you will regret the absence of an external screen, although in practice it is true for information such as: caller ID, battery level, network sensitivity, time. .. without opening the phone (Philips 630 is equipped with external display that coveted).
For its part, the 330 is equipped with a graphic display: 8 lines of text, black and white, 101 x 80 pixels.

Functional but unpretentious
The Philips 330 has all the basic functions needed today: Browser WAP 1.2.1, 32-tone polyphonic ringtones, the ability to store up to 100 SMS / EMS (version 4.0 - download JPEG image black and white) and record up to 300 names in the internal (5 issues, 1 e-mail, a note by name), the e-mail, buzzer, calendar, calculator, alarm clock (even off) .. .

You will find the menu carousel from Philips that provides color animated icons.
Identical in appearance to his younger brother, Fisio 825 incorporates, however, a color screen capable of displaying 4096 colors, against 256 for the Fisio 820. A very good point that will bring a better quality image, which suffered rendering sometimes "fade" the Fisio 820.

The Fisio 825 can receive, store and send images in JPEG color, screensavers and wallpapers. A PC engine called "Image Companion" is available for resizing / creating images before sending them to a phone via the e-mail.

Just upload a photo of a friend directly from your PC or your digital camera and combine it with their name in your directory: his face appears on screen color to each of his calls. It is even possible to associate a ringtone to name in the directory.

Philips has also integrated the new gaming engine In-Fusio ExEn v2, which provides access - via download - a wide range of color 3-D games.

The facelift given to the Fisio 820 is rather successful: new color, function Fotocall "interesting, search engine ExEn v2 ... The Fisio 825 is a combination of technologies (but when the MMS), with a high autonomy, and offered a very competitive price.

Philips Fisio 625

The Fisio 625 succeeds, just months after its release, the Fisio 620, he inherited the design and the most important functions.

White backlight of the screen
Compact and lightweight (83 grams and 73 cc), the phone boasts a sleek design (antenna) and finish ensuring proper grip argréable device. Access to various functions of the animated carousel is via a joystick center. The monochrome display can display up to 8 lines of text.

The Fisio 625 brings new features: white backlight, new engine download games, EMS, function Fotocall "... For a price almost identical to the Fisio 620. A good value for pix.

Philips 630

Philips (finally) on the mobile phone market by launching simultaneously flip the 330 and 630 (color display).

First clamshell phone with color screen Philips
Users of the Philips brand were certainly long time ... The manufacturer had no real news out since the summer of 2002 (Fisio 825 and 625) (!) A peak in the highly competitive today what has become mobile.

So it is with relief that we learn out of 630: the first flip phone with color screen Philips signed. Faced with competition from Asia, a specialist in this type of devices, Philips has bowed to the new market demands, and opted for a phone with metalized finishes, elegant and discreet.

The unit is equipped with 2 color displays:
• A main display capable of displaying 8 lines of text and 4096 colors (128 * 128 pixels).

• A smaller external display (80 * 48 pixels). When you receive a call, the 7-color backlight of the external display changes color at the same time as the ringtone. Note that the backlight can change color depending on the MIDI tones embedded in the phone and not when running MIDI files downloaded via the serial cable (sold separately as an accessory).

Philips integrates a stereo FM radio
The Philips 630 has all the basic functions needed today: WAP / GPRS Class 10, 32 tone polyphonic ringtones (30), midi ringtone downloads, the ability to store up to 100 SMS and save up 300 names in the internal phone book (up to 3 phone numbers per name), T9 predictive text, sending group SMS (up to 12 recipients), organizer (up to 100 events), a buzzer, calculator, alarm clock ... Philips 655

A few months after the release of its clamshell 650, Philips introduces the 655 which remain very close. So close that the differences are minor technical ...

The 655 is a small mobile only 90 grams, has an external LCD screen blue inverted (80 * 48 pixels) and an internal OLED screen capable of displaying 65,000 colors at a resolution of 128 * 160 pixels. This phone has a memory of 6 MB: nup you a directory of 500 contacts, 20 SMS and 300 MMS.

The Philips 655 incorporates a VGA camera and a mirror to take self-portraits. The photo album allows you to store up to 1000 pictures and view them as a slideshow. Creative Photo Editor software, you will add elements of rigging to your photos.
The terminal is also equipped with TV Link function that lets you view your photos directly on your TV via an optional cable!

The device has a handsfree speaker which, at the rear of the craft, you will share your calls. Without forgetting the other traditional functions that Philips does not fail to include on its terminals: a pedestrian kti FM option, the software BeDJ to mix your ringtones and games engine In-Fusio V2.

Philips Fisio

The Fisio 120 and 121 are dual-band phones from entry level designed for simple and intuitive.

These phones feature a large graphic display (4 lines) monochrome and a giant menu icons that make an interface accessible by all. With only 95 grams and a sleek design, this phone has a battery life of 15 days standby and 4 hours of talk time (manufacturer data).

The Fisio 120/121 incorporates some functions: vibrate, T9 predictive text input, alarm clock, calculator, 20 pre-recorded ringtones, ring tones and a composer. Note that neither the Fisio 120 Fisio 121 nor has any internal phone. Make sure that your SIM card has a capacity sufficient diameters to store your numbers.

Fortunately addicts will appreciate the customization front detachable and downloading ringtones. As fans of SMS, they can even send expressive among 50 icons available.

Compared to the Fisio 120, Fisio 121 offers new colors as well as access to the Internet through mobile WAP browser system (version 1.1). This model is also available with new colors and is sold almost 170 euros.

The Philips Fisio 120 and 121 are for younger people as well who need a reliable phone, and easy to use.

Philips 639

With the 639, Philips showed a touch of innovation rarely seen in its range. With its clamshell design and sleek look, this new terminal creates the surprise with its external OLED screen hidden behind a mirror.

OLED and effect "magic mirror"
The latest Philips introduces many innovations compared to 630 released a year earlier, starting with the design. The 639 is closer to 330 in design (keyboard) and the 630 in features (color display ...). But still a difference: the external OLED screen.

The 639 is just the first terminal to be Philips has such a screen. The manufacturer's designers may have wanted to play the card of innovation by coupling the OLED screen with an upper shell being truly as a mirror. So, rarely screen was also well integrated, and the display screen placed under the mirror makes the terminal very high tech.

To impress your friends, Philips has integrated 5 animations on the OLED display featuring animals with a warm sound quality. An animated clock is also present and you alarm every 15, 30 or 60 minutes using animation (monk, chicken, Buddhist temple, cuckoo clock).

Once the valve open, there is a fully functional keypad with 2 keys, direct access to MMS and BeDJ. The screen on it deserved to be bigger, especially as there are plenty! So we are left with the screen 535 can display 65,536 colors (128x128 pixels - 27 * 27 mm). Besides the graphical environment is identical to the 530/535 with the same color codes and interface 'carousel':
• Settings: sounds, display, voice commands, voice dialing, date, language, profiles ...
• Messages: SMS management, MMS, e-mail
• Multimedia: album music and images, camera, BeDJ, state memory, recordings
• Games and Applications: breakout, converter, calculator, alarm clock, organizer
• Call: call list, setting the call counters
• Directory: Contact Management
• Operator Services: WAP access and services of your operator.

The menu 639 is identical to the 535 but with no menu and Infrared Camera.

GPRS, MMS and BeDJ
The Philips 639 is a dual band phone that integrates the renowned music publisher already present on the 530/535 models of the manufacturer. BeDJ lets you create and save your creations made from pieces and sounds recorded in the phone or by downloading new samples on the Internet. A small tracker actually, but still capable of handling 9 tracks.

The terminal includes of course all the usual functions: WAP / GPRS Class 10, vibrator, SMS / EMS / MMS, T9, 32 polyphonic ring tones, voice recognition and voice commands, voice memo, an internal phone book of 300 contacts, alarm , calculator, converter, e-mail client ... Also note the presence of the function Fotocall that identifies incoming calls through one of the photos you have saved.
However, the phone is not hands-free, and does not include the FM radio yet present on the 630.
Similarly, it does not include the Java function, but the engine of In-Fusio, which will also allow you to download new games. There are 2 In-Fusio games embedded in the terminal and a 'breakout'.

In terms of memory, the phone offers 2 MB which is plenty if you do not acquire the camera module accessory. FYI, the memory should still allow you to save fifty photos in VGA format, which is not bad.

Finally, regarding connectivity, we must admit that this is not the strong point of 639 which has no IR port and that the packaging does not, unfortunately, data cable. It is optional (Ref: AGHOBG/Z1T) and the camera module (Ref: A3VVBD/01T).

First look and first surprise. The Philips 639 has not gone unnoticed with its OLED display and the famous mirror, but what a pity that the internal screen is too small! The technological content is satisfactory given the market and the target specified. In addition, budding photographers can add the optional camera. Cheese :-)

Philips Fisio 820

Philips introduces its first color screen phone: the Fisio 820. Manufacturer's flagship product for 2002, this phone is intended for high-end segment.

The keyboard has a 4-way center button (Cross Keys) on keys 2, 4, 6, 8. The validation key is on it through the 5 key. You will find the menu carousel from Philips that provides color animated icons.

Functionally, the Fisio 820 is equipped with the latest technological innovations:
• GPRS 4 +2 (transfer data 4 times faster)
• WAP Browser 1.2.1
• Compatible with Bluetooth technology (wireless)

Among the functions most "classical" include: built-in modem, voice features (recognition, commands, memo of 30 seconds), an internal phone book can hold up to 300 names, calendar, calculator, and writing T9 predictive input for SMS.

The other highlight of the Fisio 820 is the personalization of the phone: In addition to images presented in the phone, you can download the image or photo of your choice as a screen saver or wallpaper. So when the phone is in standby, you'll scroll loop pictures of your last vacation.
The Fisio 820 also allows you to download 10 ringtones in addition to the 20 already in the phone.

The battery life is outstanding for a phone with a color screen. The battery will let you use your phone until 5:30 in conversation and 400 hours standby (manufacturer data).

The Fisio 820 is a combination of technologies. If the colors on the screen may seem bland to some, the terminal still has many significant advantages.

APPEARANCE AND DESIGN
The design of the Qtek 8310 is a success. Its black on the front and gray on the sides and rear give a special touch to this smartphone. If it does not compete with the latest ultra flat terminals, it benefits from a reasonable size and it is very easy to use. The result is very pleasing. The keys are wide enough and perfectly meet the orders. The navigation joystick is sturdy and precise.

Front, the 8310 provides a screen displaying 65,536 colors effective resolution of 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA). The dimensions of the screen reaches 34 * 45 mm and a diagonal of 57 mm. Nothing to say, the screen will display lots of information and offer you excellent visibility. Located just below the screen, there are 4 buttons: 2 buttons' function ', a key host' and a button 'Back'. Regulars of Windows Mobile will be at ease.

The keyboard is successful. The keys are easily accessible and do not slip. In addition to alphanumeric keys, and keys 'win' / 'hang up', there are two dedicated buttons for functions 'directory' and 'messages'.

The left side edge hosts a dedicated button to the manager of communication (WiFi, Bluetooth), which will also record a voice note with a long press. Moreover, this installment welcomes two buttons for volume control.

As for the right lateral edge, there is a button for direct access to photo mode and a slot for attaching a neck.

The photo sensor is located on the back cover with a mirror for self portraits. It does not have a cover to protect it. So take it in the utmost care! Also note the lack of flash.

The top features the power button (which requires some tact), the speaker and the infrared port. Note the presence of two LEDs on each side of the speaker: an LED network and another blue when Bluetooth is activated.

Finally we find the headphone jack and dock connector (Mini USB format) on the bottom. The location of the SIM card is located under the battery. You probably will experience some difficulties in choosing the back cover. Too bad the system adopted is not that of the Qtek 9100 or just push a little button that opens the hood.

But where is the reader miniSD? Well aware that it is under the battery. It is far easier access as the Sagem myS-7 (available on the drive side of the unit).
DESCRIPTION OF THE MENU
The Qtek 8310 is one of the first smartphones running Windows Mobile 5.0. The opportunity to evaluate the performance of this new version by comparing it to my old Sagem myS-7. The start of Qtek done in 35 seconds while Sagem is 50 seconds. Even better! Qtek extinguished in 5 seconds against 30 seconds for the Sagem.

The homepage does not vary greatly from one version to another. We find the last used functions at the top of the screen, then the network information, calendar, missed calls, the number of SMS / MMS received. The button "Start" and "Contacts" at the bottom of the screen are also by appointment. The only "big" difference is of course the quality offered by the Qtek screen brightness, color fidelity, resolution ... offer real comfort and a pleasure for the eyes.

To access the main menu, use the "Start" button. The Sagem Windows Mobile 2003 provided an overview of various functions in a list, while the functions are now presented as icons, like on most phones. The first page displays 3 * 3 icons. The user must press the "More" to access other features.

Here is a list of original features that you find on the Qtek 8310:
- Internet Explorer
- Windows Media
- Active Sync
- Comm Manager (Bluetooth, WiFi ...)
- Pocket MSN
- Midlet Manager

You will be able to add many applications thereafter. You must ensure that the software is highly compatible with this new version of Windows Mobile.

From your smartphone to synchronize, Microsoft ActiveSync. To synchronize with a computer, you must first install ActiveSync on it. You can use ActiveSync to synchronize information such as Outlook mail, contacts, calendar, tasks and multimedia content (music, video and images) or any other file. Synchronization is also possible via infrared or Bluetooth connection.

Task Manager allows you to display all programs typically run on your phone as a list. In Task Manager you can go to, activate, or terminate any program running. It also lets you view the status of the phone memory and battery information.

Communication Manager allows you to easily enable or disable phone features:

- Enable or disable ActiveSync.

The Bluetooth connection was tested with a Jabra JX10 with no difficulty on the pairing and voice communications.

Your phone can be configured to receive e-mails from Outlook e-mail accounts, Hotmail, POP3 and IMAP4. Being a major user of SMS, I note that Windows Mobile 2005 can now set a time for receiving any acknowledgments (SMS> Menu> Options> Account Options> SMS> Receive) while he was apply to each SMS in Windows Mobile 2003 (SMS> New> Menu> Message Options> Request a notification when the message delivery).

Your phone comes with Internet Explorer Mobile is a full Internet browser. By cons, still no support for Flash animations. Note the presence of Pocket MSN, which includes: MSN Messenger, MSN Hotmail, MSN Hotmail Message MSN Mobile Home.

Use Calendar to schedule appointments, including meetings and other events. Your appointments for the day can be displayed on the homepage. If you use Outlook on your PC, you can synchronize appointments between your phone and your PC. You can also set the calendar to remind you of appointments by a sound or a flashing light.

Contacts is your address book and your data storage. Store phone numbers, addresses, IM, Web pages, e-mail, position, company and any other information such as birthday or anniversary. You can also add a picture or assign a ring tone to a contact. You can also add a picture or assign a ring tone to a contact. The new provision in the records now show that the photo of your contact, so that was not previously the case (it should go to another function 'Photo ID').

Use Tasks to keep track of things you should do. A task can occur once or repeatedly. You can set reminders for your tasks and you can organize them using categories. Overdue tasks are displayed in red.

Use notes to create short voice recordings.

You can use Windows Media to play audio and video stored on your phone. Here are the supported files:
Video: wmv, asf, mp4, 3gp, avi
Audio: wma, mp3, mid, midi, mid, amr, awb, m4a.

Windows games are of course to rendezvous with Bubble Breaker and Solitaire.
1.3 megapixel camera
The 8310 is the first mobile phone Qtek be equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera. This will make it possible to take pictures with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. This will allow you to print your photos on the format 10 * 15 cm. The sensor, located on the back of the phone comes with a mini mirror but no flash. Similarly, no "cache" is present to protect the sensor.

The digital camera has 4 image formats:
- 1280 * 1024 (1.3 megapixels)
- 640 * 480 (300,000 pixels)
- 320 * 240
- 120 * 160

To access the camera mode, simply press the speed dial button located on the right side edge. The screen displays the shot with some information such as: fashion (photo, video ...), the current resolution, the number of photos it is still possible to save and zoom level (up to x2 High-resolution). The key is on the screen and the user can easily find all the necessary options.

Here are the choices available to the settings menu:
- Capture modes: Photo - Video - Video MMS - Photo Contacts - Theme Image
- Zoom
- Atmosphere: Auto - Daylight - Incandescent - Fluorescent - Night - Grayscale - Sepia - Cool

Everything is very customizable: the storage location (internal memory or memory card), the ability to display the image after capture, mute button, the JPEG quality (Basic, Normal, Fine or Super Fine), the implementation of the timestamp when capturing ...

You can then take the picture by pressing the joystick or via the button on the left side edge.

Two photos taken with the Qtek 8310 * 1024 pixels in 1280 [click to enlarge]

Once the saved photo, you can send it via IrDA (infrared), e-mail or ActiveSync. You can also assign a photo to a contact in your phonebook. The Qtek 8310 includes a mini editor that lets you edit photos by rotating, cropping or choosing the 'AutoCorrect'. Only drawback, you can not add frames to your photos or drawings or special characters.

Two photos taken with the Qtek 8310 * 1024 pixels in 1280 [click to enlarge]

As we saw earlier, the 8310 has no flash for night shots, but a night mode that will not take pictures when the night is total, but is effective in urban areas (in the presence of street lights).

The memory of 8310 will allow you to save a large number of photos. With its miniSD reader, you will be able to save photos on memory cards. Numerous enough to fill your photo albums and use them as wallpaper, screen saver, or to associate them with contacts in your phonebook for caller identification of a single glance (PhotoCall function) as shown the photo below.

As you can see the contact picture is really small, so it seemed almost in full screen on the Sagem myS-7 with Windows Mobile 2003. Bad point!

The tests show a good rendering of images on the phone screen. For cons, the picture quality when transmitted over the PC is pretty average. The contours are far from precise and photos are terribly missing finesse. The manufacturer has much work to provide the level of rendering images.

The 8310 also has a video function that incorporates most of the available settings for the camera. Among the specifics, we discussed the possibility to choose the encoder. Very good idea from Qtek leaving the choice of video format to the user: MPEG-4, Motion JPEG AVI or H .263.

- Video 1 (rotation on the Champs Elysees)
- Video 2 (meeting with ducks)

Two resolutions are possible: 176 * 144 or 128 * 96 pixels. The menu also can limit the recording (by length or by weight). The videos produced are in the middle of videos made from other phones, but the resolution remains low.
IN CONCLUSION
The Qtek 8310 is definitely the much awaited smartphone. Firstly because its design is successful and it includes a QVGA display with dimensions particularly friendly with a great comfort. Then, the new version of Windows Mobile 5.0 brings stamped features found avancées.On course ActiveSync, Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player as well as handy functions such as the Comm Manager or the Task Manager that lets you know quickly the occupation of the memory space.

The Qtek 8310 WM in 2005 and the Sagem myS-7 WM2003

Another highlight of the Qtek 8310: connectivity. You can use infrared, Bluetooth, WiFi, a USB cable or miniSD memory cards. Thanks to the USB cable and ActiveSync, you will be able to exchange data with your PC and synchronize all your information.

This phone is used with great fun and it goes very quickly essential. No obvious slowdown noted, the Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor running at 200 MHz (195 MHz after Windows Mobile> Settings> About!) Plays its role. Note that its autonomy in common use (mainly phone) was very good. Of course not everything is rosy. Most techies probably regret that the smartphone is not compatible with the 3G network. Others regret the quality of the camera that leveled off at 1.3 megapixels with no flash while the first 3.2 megapixel already arrived.
