Philips 535

The 535 replaces the 530 out in autumn 2003. If the 530 was the first Philips mobile phone to be able to integrate the camera function via an external module, the 535, it integrates directly the photo sensor on the back of the phone to use more comfortable.

Display 65,536 colors
Very clever person who can discern the 535 of the 530 because the manufacturer Philips has simply taken the same design. But returning the 535, we find a photo sensor with a mirror: that's the whole point of 535, an integrated camera!

We thus find the rounded shape of 530, the navigation key - how Alcatel One Touch - and its display 65,536 colors. Its keyboard is composed of a multitude of keys. In addition to 12 standard alphanumeric keys, buttons answer / hang up, 2 softkeys below the display (direct access Cameras and keyboard lock), Philips had the good idea to add 2 buttons placed directly above the screen: the key MMS (which replaces the radio button FM 530) and BeDJ.
Two volume buttons are also present on the left side, and the infrared port on the right side. In terms of connectivity, there are two entries: one for the charger and the other for headphones (Dynamic Bass Boost) not included.

At the design level we notice the disappearance of the diodes placed on the sides (2 * 2) 530 which illuminated your phone when you receive a call. Damage.

The main screen 535 is a TFT (128 x 128 pixels - 27 * 27 mm) capable of displaying 65,536 colors. The quality of the screen is correct both at the level of brightness and color rendition. As usual, we offer a menu Philips 'carousel' (presentation circular icons):
• Settings: sounds, display, voice commands, voice dialing, date, language, profiles ...
• Messages: SMS management, MMS, e-mail
• Multimedia: album music and images, camera, BeDJ, state memory, recordings
• Games and Applications: breakout, converter, calculator, alarm clock, organizer
• Infrared: reception, data
• Info Call: call list, setting the call counters
• Directory: Contact Management
• Operator Services: WAP access and services of your operator.

The menu 535 is at pretty much identical to that of 530.

A "530" with integrated camera
Goodbye Camera Module rotating 360 ° was grafted on the phone 530; hello integrated camera! With the touch access to the camera, you will be able to take your pictures in 2 clicks. Once in camera mode, you will be able to choose the resolution - VGA (640 * 480), QVGA (320 * 240), SQVGA (160 * 120) or 128 * 128 pixels - mode (day or night) the self-timer, effects (black and white, sepia), zoom.

Once stored photos, you can send them via MMS, e-mail or to your PC via the infrared port (cable data not available). Philips has not forgotten to include the function 'Fotocall' to attach a photo to a contact so that the picture appears when that person calls. Better! You will also be possible to associate your MMS voice message or a comment (so Vox Alcatel MMS).

According to the manufacturer, you will be able to store up to 100 images in phone memory (2 MB), but on a table rather fifty photos in VGA format (40 KB on average).

The picture quality is good both on screen 535 (color rendition, sharpness of the resolution) and PC. You can realize the quality of photos taken from the camera module by viewing the photographs available on the website forum.

The Fototalk more, FM radio and less
The Philips 530 put music to honor integrating FM radio and BeDJ function. Unfortunately, radio is no longer present on this new version, but the music publisher BeDJ, He is there! It lets you create and save your creations made from pieces and sounds recorded in the phone or by downloading new samples on the Internet. A small tracker actually, but still capable of handling 9 tracks.

The Philips 535 incorporates of course all the usual functions: WAP / GPRS Class 10, IR port, vibrator, hands free (speaker phone), SMS / EMS / MMS, T9, voice recognition and voice commands, voice memo, a internal phone book of 300 contacts, alarm clock, calculator, converter, e-mail client ...
The Philips 535 does not support Java, but a simple game 'Breakout' which will struggle to convince gamers.

After proudly launched the 530 and the camera module, Philips seems to reconsider his choice by launching a new version of its model, this time, an integrated camera. The Philips 535 incorporates without complex design of the 530 released in Fall 2003: rounded, navigation key, direct access to MMS and BeDJ ... For the rest, the 535 is a clone of the 530, except the addition of FotoTalk function that lets you send MMS pictures with a voice message (MMS Vox way of Alcatel), and disappearance of features like FM radio or the lack of stereo headphones.
