Appearance and Design
LG has succeeded in changing the style with Chocolate flavor. The BL20 is less rotund than its predecessor. Its design is less seductive. It provides extra distinction. The lines are straighter. Its format is more original. The BL20 is particularly stretched, which gives it a certain elegance. Its thickness is reduced from 3 mm down to 1.2 cm. An average size today. The deep black of BL20, raised few reflections of light, catches the eye. Devoid of apparent mechanical keys, the mobile is smooth as glass. One would imagine the bottom of a bag, next to luxury cosmetics cases.
The keyboard of LG is hidden. To see this, simply click on the unlock button. The buttons are displayed in transparency, bright red, through the front of the mobile. They have no relief: they are perfectly flat. These buttons control the menus of the mobile. To type an SMS or a phone number, you must deploy the sliding keyboard, with real buttons. This keyboard does not break the harmony of BL20. The design of the new Chocolate is really successful.
The motive appears to be relatively robust. Its materials are soft to the touch. His finishing is impeccable. But the plastic shell is very sensitive to fingerprints. Inherited defect of the KG800. Two options are available: wipe off dirt that accumulates on the mobile every hour, or accept that your mobile is always a bit dirty. Difficult to forgive a failure to Chocolate: the elegance is the main asset of this mobile.
Another negative point: the screen of BL20 is not exceptional. Its size (2.4 inches) and resolution (240x320 pixels) are very average. The colors are vibrant, but they do very little to the green.
OS & Ergonomics
The BL20 is far from the mobile is the easiest to use of the market. The organization of menus is a bit antiquated, if not slightly confused. Three examples. As for the keyboard "sensitive", it is confusing. The keys have no relief: the finger does not smell. Difficult to click at trial. We must look at the keyboard to place the thumb in the right place. Result: you lose time and concentration. Only positive points: the sensitivity of the sensor buttons is good, and each click is confirmed by a reassuring vibration. The balance of ergonomic BL20 is passable. We can forgive the lack of suitable keys "sensitive" because they embellish the LG. But LG have the better design menus BL20.
The mechanical keyboard numbered from 0 to 9 is classic: neither particularly fast nor particularly slow. The BL20 is not a smartphone operating system is closed. There are few applications that can install it.
The new Chocolate has a high-speed 3G + / EDGE, but not in a WiFi antenna. This is not a big problem, since the BL20 is not a motive for the Internet. However, it only takes 80 MB of memory. When the light dims, and especially under artificial lighting, the images are degraded by strong digital graininess. They look dirty. In terms of ergonomics, access to the camera is slow. Browsing of images is laborious. In the photo gallery, it takes more than a second to move from one image to another.

How reliable are the videos? They are filmed in postage stamp format (320 x 240 pixels). They seem a bit fuzzy and dim. The sound is very bad. We risk getting tired very quickly.
Other functions (internet, MP3 player, WiFi, Bluetooth ...)
The MP3 player is pretty compelling. But it will offer a memory card. Because his memory of fish (80 MB) can hold only about twenty songs. The supplied headphones are of good quality. But beware, this type of headphone is sinking into the ear canals. It does not all ears. And suddenly it reduces outside noise, which can be dangerous when one crosses for example. However, we can plug any headphones into the BL20 thanks to its mini-jack. The sound quality is very good. We regret only a slight lack of presence in the mids, and a stereo impression too soft. But the result is very compelling. To access the MP3 menu, you have to click six times. It's long, but it's easy, since the menus are very clear.
Internet side, the BL20 is only half convincing. We consult your emails easily. Configuration is automatic: just enter the address and the password. Voila! It then receives its mail easily. The menus are clear. The presentation of the letters is simple and enjoyable. The small screen does not read the letters in acceptable comfort. A good place for LG.
However, the web browser is catastrophic. The pages take a long time to load and then displayed. Once completed, the page is displayed in full, a good point. But consultation is extremely laborious. Saccade and the cursor moves very slowly. The zoom is very slow. The characters are shrunk to the boundary of legible. We give up quickly, and it is never coming back. The bravest will only open pages for mobile. Sites "wap" in sad despair. Too bad, because here too, BL20 menus were easy and pleasant to use.
Conclude with Google Maps. The BL20 does not contain GPS chip. But theoretically, it should be capable of positioning with an accuracy of a few hundred meters, comparing the position of mobile phone antennas around him. Unfortunately, during our tests, we failed to find our location with Google Maps. Nothing dramatic, as a position in a radius is not used widely. This is insufficient to guide in a city, either on foot or by car. This allows only know approximately where you are.
Conclusion (Plus Minus)
The BL20 is easily two days on battery power. In conversation, the sound quality is adequate at best. The thinness of the sound is correct. But the voices do not sound very natural.
The new Chocolate exceeds its predecessor in every respect. Unfortunately, competition has grown faster than the Chocolate. The BL20 is less straightforward to use than most touch phones that have invaded the market. The camera and camcorder built are unconvincing. The browser is simply unusable. Luckily, the MP3 player works well. And you can receive emails comfortably. The picture is very mixed. But the Chocolate has two cards down. The map of nostalgia, who will take probably a few owners of the former Chocolate. And the map looks. On this record, the BL20 does not have much competition.
