Introduction

Nokia finally succumbs to the fashion of the touchscreen. With almost two years late, the world's leading manufacturer of mobile decides to unveil its first mobile sensory. Why so late? Nokia Did not intentionally waited to land on the touchscreen market with a product perfectly adapted to consumers' expectations? At first glance the 5800 Xpress Music seems to be a terminal of the most competitive, directly positioned competitor to the iPhone, a music phone that is sensitive.

Design of the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Touch screen requires the facade of the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is occupied by the large sensory display. With dimensions of 40 x 71 mm, it is more narrow than the Apple iPhone. It remains very comfortable. Its black glossy plastic looks very robust. A colored piping on the side apart the back cover, covered with a soft touch coating. Our only regret in terms of the thickness gauge is for the terminal that we would have preferred more slim (15.5 mm profile). Conversely, weight (only 109 grams) is surprising. Is expected because a heavier. Rather bare, the front of the terminal recalled silly string lacks only three buttons at the bottom of the screen to access, from left to right, the phone interface (dialed numbers, contacts, keypad and dropping out) or the various menu tabs main. The last button lets hang or return to the home page. Clever, a touch pad (on top of the screen and marked with the logo Xpress Music) displays a menu giving access to music content, video and phot and the Internet browser. Bands of the 5800 home to many functions. On one side we adjust the volume, lock or unlock the screen and triggers the camera. On the other, we insert the SIM and microSD card. A good idea from the manufacturer, damage, however, that one is obliged to remove the battery to remove the SIM card. At the top of the phone, the 3.5mm jack and mini-USB can charge the camera or connect a headset.

In the end, like most mobile phones Touch screen adopts the 5800 Xpress Music banal design by a prominent place on the display. Hopefully it proves intuitive to use.
Use

To use the touch screen, three options available to you. Browsing the finger appears to be very intuitive. Only limitation, writing messages on the virtual keyboard that can sometimes be a source of typing errors, especially for large fingers. In this case, you can use the stylus, located on the back and bottom of the terminal. This gives you more precision. Finally, the last solution: pick an original system but in the end with little interest. Note that the screen has an accelerometer. So it switches to landscape mode when you push the mobile horizontally. A boon for web display or for maps of the Nokia Maps solution. The interface is simple enough to understand. The home page is uncluttered and displays an original system of contacts VIP (up to 4) for a single click to take a phone call, send a message or access information of a person. Two tabs are present at the bottom of the screen to access the directory or keyboard for entering numbers. The keys are large enough to avoid errors, even with the fingers. The main menu icons have been redesigned but is still perfectly intelligible. The scrolling is done via a sidebar. No worry no more this side. Multimedia lovers can directly access the contents of the 5800 by clicking on the tab at the sum of the screen. Music, photos, videos, emails or Internet, everything is accessible from the most convenient shortcut. Crux of the terminal, the browser also illustrated by its ergonomics. If the iPhone's Safari is still more fluid, the solution of the 5800 Opera Mini is a true reference, much more convincing than Internet Explorer in Windows Mobile. Managing or favorites zoom is perfect.

Another key: communication. At this game, the Nokia is doing well, thanks mainly to a remarkable acoustics in conversation. The network grip is no problem. The 3G icon indicates the preference of the terminal for broadband. Good news for surfers and inveterate fans of download. Autonomy remains the weak point of the device. If the results are not catastrophic you must charge the battery from the device every other day. A performance that diminishes significantly if you abuse of Nokia Maps and the WiFi connection.
MP3 Player

With Xpress Music label, no doubt about the highlight of the Nokia 5800. Music is in the spotlight. And yet, no dedicated shortcut to the MP3 interface. It must go through the menu or via the drop-down tab dedicated to multimedia. The menu features four icons: music player, radio, Nokia music (link to the download platform OVI), podcasting. The hierarchy of titles is because it offers only basic asses four criteria: artist, album, genre and composers. However, it is possible to edit your own playlists. In reading, the album covers displayed on the screen (provided that they have previously downloaded). Besides the usual settings shuffle or repeat, the 5800 offers an equalizer. The different sound profiles are not very effective, except Bass Boost. The interest lies elsewhere, in fact, it is possible to create its own adjustments by manually adjusting the equalizer. Something to delight the purists of acoustics. The latter is a rare quality. Worthy of the best Walkman phones from Sony Ericsson. Even at high volume, crackling and saturation are not made to hear. The kit supplied stereo is in good order. And to satisfy most music lovers, a jack, 3.5 is present. A second connector is placed atop the mobile. For storage, Nokia has not done things by half by giving its music phone with a touch 8 GB microSD What store more than 2000 titles. And if you lack inspiration, the OVI portal catalog is available. Will download the latest hits in less than a minute thanks to mobile broadband connections and good traction network.
Connectors

In terms of connectivity, the 5800 Xpress Music makes no deadlock. It is also very comfortable on the Edge network and 3G + and WiFi. Blissfully, the grip is good and the network terminal operates primarily on broadband. For the rest, Bluetooth and USB are both version 2.0 and is in charge of trade to other mobile phones or synchronizing with your computer.

Camera

The photo is the multimedia function most neglected of the 5800 Xpress Music. While competing terminals embark for the majority of sensors 5 million pixels (with the exception of the iPhone that remains confined to 2 megapixels), Nokia has opted for a target 3.2 MP. Signed Carl Zeiss lens has an autofocus rather effective. First and second terms are distinct. However the detail of the first often becomes fuzzy little artistic on the second. If a transfer to be considered a little computer printout is unwise. If you really want to limit yourself to the classic format 10 x 15 cm. Some options allow to adjust the brightness or other but do not venture into the settings most often ineffective. The flash surprised us by his power. It will magnify some shots in dark interior. As for video, VGA resolution is correct but the result sometimes lacks fluidity.

Finding on the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Finally, the wait was worth it. The 5800 Xpress Music entering heart in the world of mobile tactile. The errors are minimal. The cell phone impresses with its ease of use and intuitive touch interface fluid. The media mix is dominated by music, on top, and a GPS solution made in Nokia neat. Surfing the Internet is very nice and enjoys excellent connections. Only the photo and autonomy are slightly indented.

Positives:
- Intuitive touch interface
- Function musical performance
- Integrated GPS Solution
- Connectors copy
- 8 GB card included
Negatives:
- Limited to 3.2 Megapixel Photos
- Internal memory low
- Profile thick
- Talk a little too tight

Nokia 5730 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has a display 16 million colors, 240 x 320 pixels, 2.4 inches in dimensions of 112 x 51 x 15.4 mm and weighs 135 grams.
The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic features a 3.15 megapixel camera, autofocus, flash. It also has bluetooth, wifi.
It has an internal memory of 100 MB, and has a TransFlash card reader. The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is compatible with GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100.
It is available since September 2009 in retail stores from 249 € (cons € 419).
Introduction

On sale since June 2009, the 5730 Xpress Music is, after the N97, the second Nokia smartphone with a sliding full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode. It also has a more conventional alphanumeric keyboard.
Labeled Xpress Music, 5730 this is part of the musical scale from Nokia, intended for multimedia on the move.
Aimed primarily at young fans of texting, emails and mobile music, music phone that looks attractive on paper with its full connectivity and its design simple and chic.

The box of Nokia 5730 is rather simple but well-stocked.
Usually keep the various accessories the Nokia range but welcome improvements.
Thus, the mini DVD-ROM and the thick manual are planned, as is the charger. In this connection, we can already deplored the use of a special plug for the battery, where it would have been simpler to use a micro USB plug.
Too bad also that the USB cable / USB microphone connecting the mobile to a computer measuring only 20 centimeters, taken included.

Package Contents

We congratulate the other hand Nokia's efforts on its hands free kit. Indeed, beside its music phone, the Finnish manufacturer distributes a pair of in-ear headphones of good quality with adjustable tip and clip-microphone.
A welcome development for a dedicated device for music

Finally, an 8GB microSD card is supplied with the kit, allowing to make the most of most of its music files.

Design and finishes

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is a beautiful object is undeniable. This is where we can not blame him the slightest thing. Black glossy, mobile presents rather well, though a little heavy, sliding keyboard and metal parts require.
Note the careful arrangement of elements as the 3.5mm jack on the top of the moving or electrical outlet on the bottom.
The lateral segments in turn, are occupied by the microSD and micro USB slot on the left, the volume control buttons and the shutter of the camera to the right.

The screen, meanwhile, is rather large for a phone with an alphanumeric keyboard. Its 2.4-inch diagonal effect allows easy navigation through menus on the device.

Finally, the QWERTY keyboard, backlit keys like all the music phone is also quite elegant. In practice, despite the sliding keyboard, the phone does not suffer from fragility and also seems that classroom design and compact and solid.

Getting Started

Although the design does not suffer reproach, we can only regret some imperfections on the grip.
Thus, some keys have their limited accessibility. One example where the trigger mode photo-video, too close to the center of the wafer so that the index of the right hand comes over to ask instinctively. It would perhaps have been the one or two inches lower on the wafer.
Buttons specific to the firm's XpressMusic phones Finland are also relatively difficult to access, built between the screen and the portion of the terminal.

Finally, still on items to be deplored, it is regrettable the ergonomics of the slider. Or rather its lack of ergonomics.
Indeed, entirely smooth, it is very difficult to distinguish by touch keys from each other, which, despite the very good grip on the keyboard and proper positioning of the thumbs, is impractical when drafting mail or SMS feature.

However, the alphanumeric keyboard, meanwhile, is very comfortable to use menus and buttons are well laid out, allowing use without any frustration.
The screen, meanwhile, is quality and quite comfortable for a phone with alphanumeric keyboard, making the read content on mobile phones easy, especially in landscape mode. Too bad the resolution is not better though.
Finally, the compact size of the phone, despite its sliding keyboard, allows a comfortable grip of the device, which fits easily in one hand, can be handled with ease.

In use

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic features the Symbian operating system S60.
Sometimes considered somewhat old-fashioned face mobile OS, Android or even Maemo, also developed by Nokia, the preferred operating system of the Finnish firm is here reworked to match the audience.
It includes in fact a slightly modified interface, including home page. To attract the young audience hooked on SMS, music and social networking, Nokia allows you to choose some contacts in his list of friends and add them as your home page to access more easily to their contact card and the latest SMS exchanged.

The cell phone is pretty fast and can run multiple applications simultaneously without excessively penalizing the fluidity of the terminal. Despite its lack of ergonomics, we can at least recognize its Symbian fluidity.
Still on the possibilities of multitasking smartphone, Nokia has had the brilliant idea to include in all of the phones menus choose "Show open applications", allowing access to various software currently operating on the mobile, without having to know the shortcut that was previously used. To recall, it was the button pressed Symbian maintained several seconds.
In addition, the GUI has been slightly redesigned for the model, thus making more flashy icons and colorful on a black background of the stylish look great.

Autonomy, in turn, is announced to 270 hours standby and 4 hours in communication. In fact, this estimate, although approximate, is accurate and can easily hold two full days on 3G, if you touch little Internet browsing.

Multimedia

As stated previously, the Nokia 5730 belongs to the XpressMusic range of Nokia, as its name implies, is intended primarily to listen to music on the move. So let's see if this function is fulfilled by the music-phone.

Firstly, in terms of form factor, we recall the standard 3.5mm jack, allowing the user to plug any headphones, not just those branded Nokia. A big plus point.
On the other hand, the buttons on management of audio playback on the left of the screen are very useful. They allow, in a first time to directly access the musical menu of the phone if the music player application is not already open.
However, if it is already functional, these buttons will be valuable shortcuts. They allow, regardless of the page displayed on the screen, control music listening in the pausing, passing to the next track or previous track. And this with a small opening animation, indicating the status of the player and the title currently playing.

The sound quality found via the speakers on it is pretty well made despite the fact that they are hidden behind the plastic backing.
With ear earphones supplied by Nokia, the sound is even better. Here we see that Nokia acquired expertise in listening to music on his musicphones since the 5300 XpressMusic, released in 2006.

Access to the portal for downloading music Nokia Music Store is done directly from the mobile. A link is available from the music player, allowing his music to download even on the move via the 3G network. However, although this feature is welcome, we regret the lack of readability of the download site compared to the reference material, the iTunes Store for the iPhone.

In addition to playing classical music files, the 5730 XpressMusic also allows reading and downloading podcasts. However, the available database is pretty thin and it will mostly manually register the address of the podcast you want to subscribe. An approach that should discourage most neophytes. Too bad for a phone that is primarily intended for young viewers and not necessarily techie.
Again, the 5730 XpressMusic is below the reference of the Apple brand.

Finally, the FM tuner is good and allows listening to his favorite radio stations in stereo. The related application can automatically download the various available channels and RDS displays the channel currently tuned.
It can also store up to 50 radio stations in order to access them more easily in everyday life.
However, as occurs with mobile phones, flat on the fact will not be able to listen to the radio without headphones, the latter being used as an extension of the antenna of the mobile.

Camera and Video (video + photo taken)

Like any self-respecting mobile phone, the Nokia XpressMusic 5730 is equipped with a video camera. Or rather, two different sensors.
Indeed, because it allows video calls, Nokia had the good idea to develop a camera in front. This sensor is nevertheless a secondary sensor of poorer quality than the main sensor, located on the back of the unit.
This is for the main sensor, a Carl Zeiss Tessar f2, 8/f3, 7. It captures images up to 3.2 megapixels and is equipped with an autofocus and an LED flash.

As stated previously, we blame the poor access to release button of the unit, located too far from the index. In addition, the camera application is not development and must be sought in the menu, unless you create a shortcut on the home page.
It also regretted the slow shooting and lack of responsiveness of the trigger button.
However, the picture quality is fairly good, although it remains well below that of the Nokia N95. The 5730 XpressMusic indeed shows its limits in the photographs in low light with a slight grain.

Nokia 5730 XpressMusic - Nokia 5730 XpressMusic Photo 63 - Nokia 5730 XpressMusic Photo 64 - Photo 65

The movie mode, though of average quality, allows the use of 8x digital zoom. While this is a degradation of image quality but is a feature that should please fans of catches taken at the moment, with no notion of video editing.

The function of photo-video music phone is primarily intended for users wishing to take a moment to share a memory thereafter.

Features

Besides his duties as MP3 player, FM radio and shooting, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic features a variety of modes enabling full use of the mobile.
So, basically, the smartphone is equipped with a GPS allows users to tag and geotag photos taken with the camera.
In addition, there are basic applications like a calendar, organizer, alarm clock, voice recorder, or the weather forecast.
Bluetooth, also implemented, is not restrained and allows both to transfer files to another mobile or computer to listen to music with a compatible headset connected.

In addition, the Symbian operating system the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic can install many third party applications via the portal Ovi Store available on mobile.

Internet connectivity

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is a mobile connectivity which is more than complete.
It is well equipped with a chip 3G + (HSDPA), Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi b / g.
This connectivity allows you to display a speed of 4000 Kbps while browsing the Internet on mobile networks. A speed for the least impressive.
Too bad the default browser of Nokia, meanwhile, is still not very intuitive, with menus seems to be designed to make life difficult.

Connected via USB to a computer, the music phone offers options such as mass storage, PC Suite, or connecting the computer to the net via the modem mode on the phone.
The mass storage allows the phone to behave like a USB key to store various files at their leisure.
The modem function in turn, allows the use of mobile networks to connect to the net on his computer. A handy feature when neither ethernet cable or WiFi networks are available.

Finally, the PC Suite mode requires that you have previously installed the Nokia PC Suite software on his computer. Once this mode, there are several options displayed on the computer, such as transferring files, updating maps included with the phone or the management of smartphone functions such as calendar, contacts, or the Writing SMS directly from your computer.

Conclusion

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has a sense of unfinished business. Starting with a great idea for a smartphone complete both written communications and can listen to music a maximum mobility, it suffers from several shortcomings, particularly in terms of ergonomics that may be daunting more than one.
Gaps even more damage than the smartphone is a very beautiful object, particularly well finished refined design.

Connectivity, meanwhile, is comprehensive and equips the phone with a great versatility, combined with the opening of the Symbian OS, lets make the most of the many applications available.
The software part of the phone finally lets renovate somewhat older Symbian S60 with a few well-chosen functions such as priority contacts directly on the homepage in order to remain close friends.

Positives:
design, neat and compact.
The in-ear headphones
Favorite contacts as homepage
Good sound quality Minus points:
some buttons difficult to access
very ergonomic QWERTY keyboard
Symbian aging
Average quality photo and video

Introduction Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

Dominated by Sony Ericsson and its Walkman phones, the market now musicphones new competitive players in the image of Nokia. After a successful but the N91 template very imposing, the Finnish manufacturer unveils its second terminal stamped XpressMusic, the 5700. Successor of 5300, this new device inherits the design of the Nokia 3250. Indeed, the keyboard part rotates to activate the various multimedia features: camera and MP3 player. Compatible with 3G and Edge, the 5700 is also an avid mobile broadband. Very promising in theory, the Nokia music phone can compete with the heavyweights of the sector?

Positive points:
- Comprehensive and compelling music features
- 512 MB memory card supplied
- Compatibility 3G/Edge
- Original design
Negatives:
- Photos averages
- Autonomy limit
- Ergonomics photo mode

Contents of the box Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

The 5700 comes with the usual accessories: USB cable and stereo kit. However, it is particularly neat because it integrates a remote control to switch from one track to another, adjust volume or pause playback. In addition, a standard jack (3.5 mm) connects the headphones of your choice for optimal sound reproduction. To facilitate storage, a micro SD card 512 MB is provided. What archive more than a hundred pieces.

Found in the box:
- The Nokia 5700 phone
- Charger
- A USB cable
- A stereo kit
- The manual
- An installation CD
- A micro-SD memory card 512 MB
Design of the Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

In terms of design the 5700 XpressMusic is midway between the 5300, its direct predecessor, and 3250. The first, he took the plastic reinforcements on sides and back of the unit. However they are home more dedicated keys to control the MP3 player. On one side the volume is adjusted, the other found a plastic cover hiding the mini USB connector, the plug for the stereo kit and the memory expansion port.

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic - Nokia 5700 XpressMusic Photo 9 - Photo 10 Nokia 5700 XpressMusic - Photo 12

The navigation buttons have been deported back to the keyboard part. Indeed, like the Nokia 3250, the bottom of the unit swivels 180 degrees to reveal a portion joystick to start playback songs and navigate through tracks. By pivoting the keyboard, the application launches automatically.

Two other positions are available. At 90 ° to the left, the mobile turns into a camera. The target located on the edge has a resolution of 2 megapixels. The major drawback of the camera function is to navigate the menus is done using the joystick, difficult to handle when the phone is in this position. By rotating the pad 90 degrees to the right you can make self-portraits or making calls using the videophone option.

Available in three colors (black, gray or red), the 5700 has a good finish. Plastics are robust. The screen displays more than 16 million colors. A boon for watching videos in full screen mode to boot. The keyboard is classic but well designed. The keys are large enough to avoid typing errors when writing messages. In terms of size, if the 5700 can not claim to fight in the class of ultra-fine it offers a compact size: 108 x 50 x 17.5 and weighs 115 grams.

In the end, Nokia has an original design without sacrificing usability, with the exception of the photo mode. Each position corresponds to an application. These are they performing?

Using the Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

3G/Edge compatible, the Nokia 5700 has a broad high-speed connectivity. The connections are made correctly and transfers are swift. Rely on average a minute to download a song. The traction system has no flaws. In our tests, the terminal was mainly connected to the EDGE network, by leaving some 3G. However, in general, the bars symbolizing sensitivity are rarely fell below the average. The findings for autonomy is less glorious. Taking advantage of different applications, the battery runs out after about thirty hours. The airplane mode allows glean a bit of energy security and a dozen hours of music listening continuously.

Connectivity of Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

More difficult to complete than the 5700. With the exception of WiFi, nothing is missing. Nokia is also at ease on the GPRS network as the Edge or 3G. Data transfers are provided by the Infrared to the least hurry or the USB and Bluetooth. This is stereo and therefore allows connection to a compatible enhancement. Ultimately, the micro SD card which allowed easy transfer of audio files, videos or music from one computer to your mobile phone. With such a choice of solutions, you'll have no excuses not to stuff your 5700 of multimedia content.

MP3 player of Nokia 5700 Xpress Music

Stamped XpressMusic, the 5700 is dedicated to music. Songs can be sorted by various criteria:
- All Songs
- Playlists
- Artists
- Albums
- Genres
- Composers

Settings and options are numerous:
- Go to Music menu
- Random
- Repeat
- Equalizer (classical, jazz, pop, rock)
- Start viewing
- Audio settings (Balance, stereo widening, Loudness)
- Add to playlist
- Set as ringing tone
- Help

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic - Nokia 5700 XpressMusic Menu 20 - Menu 21

The results are very compelling. The acoustics of the speaker is excellent. Bass and treble are correctly reproduced. The voices are not muffled. Only a few crackles appear, but only when the volume is pushed up. We regret that the equalizer is not manually adjustable. Especially since the 4 profiles proposed change as too little sound. Conversely, the balance and stereo width settings are effective and give benefit of scale and nuance to the melodies.

The stereo kit is also very efficient. The earphones are housed in the hollow of the ear for optimal sound reproduction. And for the most demanding, a 3.5 mm jack allows connection of the headset of your choice.

Compatible with Bluetooth stereo the 5700 can also be coupled to a compatible headset as a stereo, a stereo or speakers.

Storage is provided by a micro-SD port originally equipped with 512 MB card gourmands can invest in a model 2 GB

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic - Photo 3

In lack of musical inspiration, the 5700 offers a link to "Music Shop" to download the latest hits of the time via the dual connector EDGE/3G. A radio module is also planned. In terms of ergonomics, the front provides a dedicated real pleasure to use. Only downside, autonomy hardly up to the latest MP3 players.

Finally, the 5700 XpressMusic will not be shamed before the Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. Conversely, it offers an alternative weight thanks to its sound performance and kit of the most generous.

Camera of the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5700 is equipped with a camera 2 million pixels. It is activated by rotating the keyboard part from 90 ° left or right to self-portraits. Taking pictures is via the play / pause key front of the music. Navigation through menus is difficult using the joystick.

Photos

Photo mode allows numerous settings:
- Capture
- Panorama mode
- Flash (On, Auto)
- Night Mode
- Sequence mode
- Timer (10, 20, 30 seconds)
- Go to Gallery
- Set (white balance, tone)
- Help
- Exit

Settings are also numerous:
- Image quality (high, normal, basic)
- Show captured
- Image resolution (640 x 480, 1600 x 1200)
- Default image name
- Memory usage

The results are average. The lack of autofocus is felt. The photographs lack contrast. If the foreground is doing well, the second is far too vague. The dive was imprecise. The colors are honorable, especially outdoors when lighting conditions are optimal. As soon as the light fades, the sensor has a tendency to extrapolate certain hues, particularly in terms of white and blue. The presence of the flash is useless. Lacks power to illuminate subjects too distant and too close to overexpose subjects. The zoom is not recommended as it degrades image quality.

The images can be transferred to a computer, but a drawing on paper seems unnecessary. Station to screen 16 million colors which magnify images. Resolution 640 x 480, reserved for sending MMS, meanwhile, very persuasive.
The different settings are ineffective and do not improve sufficiently rendering. However, remember that the camera is here on a more mobile whose main function is music.

Far from his compatriot the N93, the 5700 offers a too low resolution video for movies to be usable. Even on the phone screen, the record is too jerky and pronounced pixelation.

Conclusion

If Nokia 5300 was a bit too basic to compete with industry heavyweights musicphones too big and the N91, the 5700 is a candidate to watch very closely. The music functions are largely up to the Walkman phones from Sony Ericsson. The kit includes a card delivery and a complete stereo kit. The wide connector is a definite asset, as the multi-sided design. Autonomy is not average but lower than most music mobiles. The bad thing is, that prevents the picture at 5700 to be as flexible as a Samsung F300 or Sony Ericsson W880i. Marketed in the vicinity of 430 €, Nokia is in the price range of its direct competitors and offers good value for money.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic has a display 16 million colors, 240 x 320 pixels, 2.2 inches in dimensions of 112 x 46 x12 mm and weighs 83 grams.
The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic features a 3.15 megapixel camera, autofocus, flash, video. It also has bluetooth, wifi.
It has an internal memory of 150 MB, and has a TransFlash card reader. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is compatible with GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 HSDPA 1900 / 2100.
It is available since April 2009 in retail stores for € 228 (against 279 €).
Presentation

Like the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, his cousin more or less distant tested recently, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic was announced in February 2009 and was released for sale from June 2009.
This too, as its name suggests, a mobile designed primarily for listening to music and is equipped with various functions for simplified reading of its audio on the move.
It differs, however, his cousin by its formfactor. Where was the 5730 XpressMusic mobile with a QWERTY keyboard in slide, the 5630 is a mobile piece design simple but effective. It is therefore a mobile entry with minimal functionality of a music phone.
However, do not prejudge and it is ultimately determined that the 5630 over the 5730 on many aspects.

Kit contents and accessories

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is sold in a cardboard box Nokia Classic.
Besides the phone, there are various accessories, all in all fairly conventional.
DVD-ROM, user manual, a black fabric pouch, a USB cable / USB microphone, a battery charger and a handsfree kit.

Let's look quickly at some of these elements. As with the 5730 XpressMusic, the USB cable is only 20 cm by counting from one end of a connection to another. Needless to say, is too low for a phone that is supposed to synchronize with a computer to transfer their music.

The hands free kit, meanwhile, is relatively conventional, Nokia. And that's a shame. Also in comparison with the 5730 XpressMusic, we find ourselves there with a Nokia Classic kit, in two parts. The one with headphones, connect to the other part consisting of the audio controller, microphone and button to answer a call. One regrets the absence of in-ear headphones that would have been entirely appropriate for a phone of this range.

However an attempt has been made about the battery charger. It is this time with a micro USB to limit the number of connections on the mobile, but most can be replaced with any charger that has the same connectivity, Nokia certified or not.

Finally, a 4-gigabyte microSD card also comes with music phone, where the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic was equipped with a 8GB card.

Design and finishes

Very different from 5730 in material terms, the 5630 XpressMusic is a mobile piece, that is to say he holds in one party, without valve or slide.
This impression of having a camera with a single, coherent block is reinforced by the materials used.
Indeed, the front of the mobile is covered with clear plastic and shiny where the buttons seem to come out. Thus, to the touch, distinguishes only the buttons on the mobile, all edges are perfectly integrated in a glossy smooth plate.

Rather light, the 5630 XpressMusic is especially fine and well designed. Like most mobile XpressMusic keys shortcut to the music application are located to the left of the screen. The top, meanwhile, is occupied by the port and standard 3.5mm jack the micro USB slot. Note also the originality of this choice as we usually find the USB connectors on the bottom or side bands. This choice is probably done to find all the connections on the same wafer.
Finally, on the right of the mobile, we find the traditional volume buttons, the trigger-function video camera and a microSD slot.
Just above the screen, a light sensor allows the phone to detect whether the camera on the back of the craft, requires the use of flash or the keys of the mobile need to be backlit. At his side, a secondary camera is available when using the video function.

The 2.2 inch screen, smaller than the 5730 XpressMusic, displays up to 16 million colors, which does not prevent it from having a slight inclination towards blue.

Getting Started

Taking Charge! This was indeed the biggest fault of the 5730 XpressMusic. As well tell you now, you go from rooster to donkey with 5630.
While the keys were 5730 rather difficult to access, whether on the QWERTY keyboard, shortcuts or music button on the camera, the 5730 XpressMusic is infinitely more pleasant to use.
However, the button on the camera, even if it requires more force to use, it is regrettable, however, its position, this time too close to the edge of the mobile. Between that of 5730, too far, and it, too close, we would have wished a happy medium.

The alphanumeric keypad is quite comfortable and we happen to type text messages without difficulty from the first grip of the device.
Finally, Symbian forces, we find the six menu keys. These are particularly neat and it is much easier to navigate menus with the N95, for example.

We particularly appreciate the overall grip of the phone. Very thin and long and narrow, the interface is really nice.
The compactness of the mobile device is both comfortable and discreet, unfortunately to the detriment of the screen whose size can be sometimes insufficient, particularly in the use of multimedia or web music phone.

In use

Like the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, the 5630 is equipped with a version of Symbian S60 specially modified to appeal to young fans of social networks and mobile music.

Its interface is specially redesigned including the possibility, once the home page, create shortcuts to favorite contacts. With these shortcuts, you can access various information about his contacts as soon as including the latest SMS exchanged, displayed in a discussion, or more conventional information such as their photo or their email address.
In the homepage too, it is possible to customize shortcuts to 6 applications to access it more easily.

Symbian S60, the mobile is quite fast and really stable. No bug disturbs navigation, including multi-tasking situation, when multiple applications are running at the same time on the mobile.
Just like the 5730 XpressMusic, we also find an option in the menu display, allowing access only to the window of multitasking. Thus, no need to hold down the button Symbian as the choice is always at your fingertips.

The general interface of the mobile is designed in rather sober shades including showy and colorful icons on a black background relatively chic.

Autonomy announced standby is 408H and up to 4 hours in communication. Again, without going to calculate to the minute the duration of a cycle battery, it should be noted that mobile can be used easily by using it for 48 including 1 to 2 hours to call.

Multimedia

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is a music phone, cell phone whose main purpose, besides the phone, then, is listening to music on the move.

From the material point of view, this mobile XpressMusic range is seen with a standard 3.5 mm jack, allowing the user to connect any headphones, not only one offered with the phone .
Because yes, it will be difficult to simply headphones provided by the Finnish company as their quality is reviewed. It is a pity that the efforts made by Nokia in terms of accessories with the 5730 do not recur with the entry-level mobile XpressMusic.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic - Nokia 5630 XpressMusic Photo 10 - Photo 13 NOKIA 5630 XpressMusic - Photo 17

Still on the hardware, we find the traditional buttons control the music player on the left edge of the mobile.
When the audio application is closed, simply pressing the buttons used to open it.
Then once open, just press it to control the music played, regardless of the window displayed on the screen. The pause, move to the next track, or return to the previous track.
A small window will then open to indicate the currently playing song and the current status of the player.

The sound quality is not bad. But far from being excellent. Let's say for a phone this compact format and also, we are pleasantly surprised by the result even if the sound from the speakers is sorely lacking bass.
With the supplied speaker, even if the bass is more present, we can only be disappointed with the overall quality.
Fortunately, the 3.5 mm jack allows to plug any headphones. And when we move to higher quality headphones, you may be pleasantly surprised. The sound is well made and all frequencies are heard.

Like the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, we can access the portal for downloading music from the phone. In the menus of the music application, a link is available to directly access the mobile site's download portal, including the move.
Damage, however, that the mobile site is so unclear and so confused. Indeed we regret the lack of readability of the gate facing the iTunes Store competitor.

Being dedicated to multimedia, the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic can logically downloading and playing podcasts. It also has a database of podcasts available. However, it is thin and it will mostly go look up the address of the podcast you want to subscribe and enter them manually.
A further complication which surely will discourage those who want to try. Indeed, it must be remembered that the target audience for this mobile market is not necessarily a techie and a very streamlined approach to accessing podcasts have been preferable.

Equipped with an FM tuner, the music phone can also listen to his music. The quality is pretty good and the RDS feature allows you to view what is currently tuned radio.
However, as is often the case on mobile phones, we must plug a headset in order to use the FM radio feature, the latter serving as an antenna tuner. Therefore impossible to listen to his favorite radio stations via the loudspeaker.

Camera and video

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic has obviously a photo-sensor video.
Limited to 3.2 megapixels and no autofocus, macro mode or sensor Carl Zeiss, one should not expect miracles.
Indeed, the picture quality is particularly disappointing.

However, we must not forget that this is an entry-level phone XpressMusic. The picture quality is so clearly not a priority for the target audience for the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.
Besides the video-camera mode is not highlighted on the menu since moving in must be sought directly in the application page and no shortcut is available on the homepage or menu page.
However, the camera mode will suffice for those looking to take snapshots to freeze a memory on a microSD card.
The camera is also equipped with an LED flash and has a rather unique feature as it can take photos in panorama mode by chaining several shots, up to 360 °. Moreover, the pictures are taken automatically in this mode, the device identifying the shooting based on the previous shot.
Finally, the device also has a video function, pretty basic, but simple enough to use even basic.

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic, just like its big brother, has a secondary sensor in front, next to the light sensor. Obviously, the quality is not to go but this is not the intention. It is always nice to have a second sensor to be able to shoot during a video conversation.

Features

In addition to his MP3 player, camera and FM radio, basic applications of 5630 are relatively limited. It does, indeed, no GPS chip allowing the use of a location application.
However these are the traditional calendar, alarm clock or organizer.
In addition, the opening of Symbian OS will install various applications that can be found on the portal including Ovi Nokia Store.
Unfortunately, again the comparison with the iPhone is inevitable and we regret the lack of applications available and the lack of usability of the portal.

Internet connectivity

The Nokia 5630, XpressMusic entry level, aims to be a smartphone. And he succeeds rather, especially in view of its high connectivity.
It is especially equipped with a WiFi chip compatible b / g, Bluetooth 2.0 and 3G + HSDPA chip allowing to access the web on the move via the built-in browser or via downloaded applications.
The default browser is also still very intuitive and the menus also impractical.
Note also the absence of GPS from the negative even if a mobile input range, this lack is not feeling too.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic - Nokia 5630 XpressMusic menu 28 - Menu 27 NOKIA 5630 XpressMusic - Menu 31

The mobile can be connected to a computer in two ways. Via Bluetooth or via a USB cable.
When connected via USB, the mobile offers a choice of options depending on the type of interaction is desired between two terminals, mass storage, PC Suite or modem mode.
Mass storage, as its name implies, allows you to use the phone memory to store various files. Modem allows the user to use mobile networks to connect his computer to the web. This mode is of great interest in the move.

The optional PC Suite, meanwhile, needs to install the software on his eponymous computer. This mode allows you to directly manage their mobile from their computer.
Thus, the software offers the possibility to transfer files, write text messages or manage their contacts or calendar, all directly from the dedicated software.

Conclusion

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic, sold around 200 euros, ranks as an entry to the XpressMusic phones, while its cousin, the 5730 Xpress Music, averaging 280 euros clearly wants more complete.
Yet, while on paper as on the invoice, this hierarchy is correct, the user experience will clearly benefit the 5630 XpressMusic.
Indeed, it has no faults of his cousin, who was leaving on a good foundation though.

Farewell design flaws such as ergonomics or completely revise the outlet owners.
Here we have a phone with a much better formfactor, not suffering from any criticism, and very nice grip.

However, the lack of features the highly developed confined to the target to which it is designed: a young audience foremost proponent of music that does not necessarily look in his mobile terminal allowing him to write his emails, or watch his videos.

Positives:
The chic and classic design
A very compact
Ergonomics faultless
Favorite contacts as homepage
Good sound quality Minus points:
Symbian aging
Still few applications on Ovi Store
Photo-video mode to improve
Screen too small

Nokia 5320 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic features a display 16.7 million colors, 240 x 320 pixels in dimensions of 46 x 108 x 15 mm and weighs 90 grams.
The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic has a camera, 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200 pixels), Flash, Video Camera (QVGA), 2nd camera for video telephony. It also has bluetooth.
It has an internal memory of 140 MB, and has a microSD card slot (up \ to 8 GB). The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is compatible with the WCDMA / HSDPA / EDGE / Quad.
It is available in stores since July 2008 at a price of 211 € (against 339 €).

Introduction

Big brother 5220, the 5320 Xpress Music is a little overweight. If he bets less on the aesthetic side, it puts more emphasis on technique, including connectivity. Indeed, while his younger brother was confined to the Edge, it pushes up the 3G + and thus opens the doors for users of broadband. The music functions are always honored. Remains whether the self is also a crucial point which had been costly in 5220.

Package Contents

The delivery of the 5320 cabinet is oriented music. As proof, the stereo kit is neat. The earphones are not basic models as usual and this is a jack (3.5 mm). The memory card, always delivered on Xpress Music here reaches 1 GB and you will see coming before the mobile is stuffed with songs. The USB cable will prove very useful to transfer your music from your computer to your mobile. Provided, however, before installing the drivers provided on the installation CD.

Found in the box:
- The Nokia 5320 Xpress Music
- Charger
- A USB cable
- A stereo kit
- The manual
- An installation CD
- A 1 GB microSD Card

Design of the Nokia 5320 Xpress Music

While the 5220 was counting on finesse and elegance, the 5320 Xpress Music has a design much more massive. The thickness increases to 15 mm and weight is around 100 grams. Because of this major weight gain: the addition of 3G +. The grip remains good. However fans of skinny jeans will have trouble slipping the phone in their pocket. The display switches to 16 million colors and has a high brightness. The contrast is correct even if sometimes in full sun, it is difficult to read the display. The keys are comfortable and errors when typing texts are very rare. Difficult to say as much of the joystick which suffers from vagueness. It is not uncommon to validate instead of going up and vice versa. An adjustment period is necessary. At the top of the screen a target to switch video calls. More original, a dedicated button provides access to a particular function. This shortcut can be associated with the Internet browser to the camera, the messaging interface ... Also available in red or blue, he wears that color around the joystick and famous around the edges. The latter contain dedicated keys to control the MP3 player. There are also micro-SD port, provided the original model with a 1 GB
Use

Simple and intuitive to use, the Nokia 5320 is easy to understand. The interface is the usual model of the terminal manufacturer. Screen and keyboard are comfortable enough. Only downside, the joystick can sometimes be inaccurate. Communication, the Xpress Music is illustrated by its remarkable acoustics, devoid of echo or crackle. Even in a noisy environment the caller remains intelligible. The network is also hanging in the spotlight. In our tests we never had any problems of sensitivity. Best bars sensibilities are never descended below average. The finding could have been ideal. Unfortunately, autonomy is too often to pick up. With moderate use of most features, you need to recharge your phone every day. While listening to music, the battery takes about 10 hours but a phone is still, above all, to call.
MP3 Player

Stamped Xpress Music, Nokia 5320 music phone is a full-fledged. As proof, he sports on his slice of buttons for controlling the MP3 player. Play, pause, forward and back on the agenda. The interface is similar to other music mobile range. The acoustics of the speaker is again remarkable. Bass and vocals are perfectly recovered. We just wish that the equalizer is not manually adjustable, like the Walkman phones from Sony Ericsson. The different profiles are quite unequal in terms of changing the tone. The stereo sound of the kit is bluffing. Blissfully, a 3.5 mm jack lets you connect your own headphones or headsets. Storage is optimized by adding a MicroSD memory card with a capacity of 1 GB is ideal for storing a large number of albums (about 250 titles). And if you lack inspiration, the broadband connection allows you to quickly download the latest tunes via the operator portals or platform OVI from Nokia. Like the entire range Xpress Music, an FM radio is the game and enjoys the RDS.
Connectors

The 5320 displays an expanded high-speed connectivity to 3G +. The Edge is also scheduled to ensure full coverage, but in case of unavailability of the 3G network. Nothing to spoil the hook system is remarkable. The terminal prefers broadband to ensure a swift access to the internet and fast downloads. The sensitivity will go down rods rarely. Locally, the 5320 is like most devices and offers dual Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The wireless link is available in version 2.0 so that pair of musical accessories. For USB if power is supplied, it will install the drivers before you can use your phone as a USB key.

Camera

Like the 5220, the camera's 5320 Xpress Music is disappointing. If the connection takes rank, photo resolution stuck at 2 million pixels. The autofocus does not always appeared and ordered the photos to stay in the terminal. Indeed, transfer is unnecessary. As for printing paper, it is unthinkable given the low level of detail photos. If the flash appeared, it proves a lesser value. Lacking power it fails to illuminate subjects at more than 1.50m.
The video is not better off with a resolution of 0,025 Megapixel, too weak to exploit your accomplishments.
All Flickr photos snuff with the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic

Finding on the Nokia 5320 Xpress Music

Finally, the 5320 Xpress Music has established itself as a good music phone to audio settings and effective. The big problem is the autonomy which, in view of its weakness, can not fully enjoy the music features. The papers also suffer. Shame as sensitivity and sound are powerful. The photo is too small to enjoy.

Positives:

Negatives:

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic has a display 16 million colors, 240 x 320 pixels in dimensions of 103.8 x 44.7 x 9.9 mm and weighs 70 grams.
The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic has a camera, 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200 pixels), QCIF video camera (177 x 144 pixels). It also has bluetooth.
It has an internal memory of 30 MB and has a microSD card slot (up \ to 4 GB). The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is compatible with EDGE / Triband (900/1800/1900 Mhz).
It is available since November 2007 in retail stores from 129 € (against 289 €).

Introduction

At a retail price around 250 €, the 5310 music phone is a rather affordable, unlike the N95 8GB for example.

The goal here is to propose a phone now offering only essential functions and equipped with an audio portion well developed and promoted.

Its price is equivalent to the W880i, and their functions are also very close. As a reminder, a more complete model is also present in the XpressMusic range: the 5610.

NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 2 NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 6 Nokia 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 13

Positive points:
- Very good finish
- Screen quality
- Small size
- Connectivity (almost) complete
- Good audio performance
Negatives:
Camera - average basic and videos
- Some regret the lack of 3G connectivity

Package Contents

Here's what the box contains the 5310:

- Mobile Phone Nokia 5310 XpressMusic
- Battery BL-4CT (860mAh)
- Charger (AC-3)
- Stereo Headset (HS-45)
- Wired Remote (AD57)
- Micro USB cable (CA-101)
- Micro SD 2GB (MU-37)
- The various manuals and installation CD

The box is very comprehensive, it lacks nothing except possibly a cover. The original 2GB card supplied is a very good initiative by the manufacturer and avoid the possible purchase of a larger capacity model. Be aware that the 5310 supports cards up to 4GB Micro SD officially.

NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 1 Nokia 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 16 NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic - Photo 18

EDGE but not 3G

The 5310 supports GPRS and EDGE, which will suffice for most users. It is however unfortunate and rare, a phone coming to market in 2008 to more than 250 € do overlook the UMTS compatibility. It is the presence of console with Bluetooth 2.0, A2DP equipped to broadcast in stereo sound on the speakers or wireless headsets.

Regarding autonomy, the 5310 should be recharged every 3 days, with a little push use (a few scores of text messages and call minutes per day). In pure audio use, the battery is given for an autonomy of 20 hours.

Getting Started

Once in hand, the terminal is immediately appreciated for its smoothness (less than one inch thick) and lightweight (about 70 grams). The Samsung "Ultra" is even thinner, but are generally quite broad stroke.

The dimensions are very close to a Sony Ericsson W880i.

The shell, composed primarily of plastic and aluminum, seems well assembled and has no defects or cracks.

The keyboard is also well finished, with keys well proportioned and pleasing to the touch, while the audio player keys located on the side of the screen will be useful if you want to plug your own headphones directly into the output jack 3.5 mm phone.

At his side, we find an outlet format micro-USB hidden under a small plastic flap.

The rear sports a carbon finish and includes, in addition to the camera 2 million pixels, three holes behind which is the speaker of the mobile.

A classic S40

Like most phones not smartphones of the brand, the 5310 runs Nokia's S40 system. The interface is still as fluid and simple to use, and some topics unique to the XpressMusic range are given to remind the young and musical side of the phone.

Only Java applications allow you to add functionality to 5310, and some have already installed the original, like "Opera Mini" or "Yahoo Go!". Can not use a GPS navigation software such as TomTom, so even if Google offers a Java version of Google Maps that also provides some navigation functions.

Let the music play

The main attraction of 5310 is of course his musical side, highlighted by a dedicated chip to decode your songs digitized and finally compatible FM radio with RDS, a first for the Finnish manufacturer (and the 6500 Slide 5610 also have this feature)!

Like Sony Ericsson, several themes are available for the audio player. Good news: it manages the display of covers of your songs, as is the case on smartphones multimedia brand.

Browsing through your music library is easy and classic: you can sort your songs by artist, album or song title for example, as long as you have completed your MP3 tags of course.

Regarding sound quality, headset, though not very attractive, provides a good quality sound, surpassing the number of dedicated MP3 players. We would have preferred a model intra atrial as those offered in the range of Walkman phones which have the advantage of isolating ambient noise, although some people prefer a conventional helmet. The speaker will lavish him sound average but adequate.

Camera unconvincing

After this performance audio, we stayed on our side of the hunger of the camera. Limited by the lack of focus or flash, the performance of the latter are actually average at best.

The video is also not in the spotlight with a maximum resolution that does not exceed 176 * 144 pixels. Unusable outside the MMS so.
Menus

1) Messaging

This menu is classic with other Nokia. The T9 system board is still effective. The sending of MMS and email is of course quite possible on this model.

Conclusion

This Nokia 5310, without being a monster performance, manages the paris to associate phones with dimensions contained a very high-performance audio player. Thanks to its affordability, the new entrant would certainly attract a lot of young consumers who want a device offering these aspects.

However, it is unfortunate that the camera have been forgotten, just as 3G connectivity. There are, however, the Nokia 5610 for example that removes these defects, but also propose a more imposing size.

Discovery lesson

The range of Nokia Xpress Music gains a model for entry-level music lovers less fortunate. Below the symbolic price of 200 €, the 5220 Xpress Music offers not only high-flying musical qualities but also by beautiful design with a look that is both slim and elegant. This terminal will be there at the height of previous models Xpress Music?

Package Contents

As the entire range Xpress Music, the 5220 has a rather generous supply kit. The stereo kit is not only good but it also integrates a jack 3.5 mm format that allows you to connect your own headphones. The storage space is a pervasive feature of musicphones, the memory card is on the agenda. Micro-SD format, it displays a capacity of 512 MB What pick more than one hundred titles.

Design of the Nokia 5220 Xpress Music

The manufacturer Nokia has never really shown the design of its devices. If the 5220 Xpress Music is not a top model, though it sports a very nice look. First by its asymmetrical shape. His finesse is also a source of satisfaction. With its 10.5 mm profile, it will slip easily into your pocket, especially as it weighs less than 80 grams. The keys on the keyboard, which seems a little narrow at first sight, are very comfortable to write text messages or dialing numbers. The screen is a bit narrow (30 x 40 mm), but more than enough for most applications. Only watching videos is a bit cramped. On the edge, we find, as is often the Xpress Music, the dedicated buttons to control the MP3 player. Little originality, they sparkle (in blue or red depending on the version of the mobile) in rate of current music. Another curiosity: the bottom of the unit, under the keyboard, a hole (aesthetics anyway) can make a choker or a portable jewelry. The back of the terminal is the most basic and covered with a striated coating rather resistant. Generally, the finish of 5220 is robust and few drops will not damage the mobile.

Use

For use music, the 5220 Xpress Music has to be efficient in terms of autonomy. This is unfortunately not the case at all. Indeed, the battery runs out of the moving at high speed. Using moderately most of the functionality of the unit for a day, you will need to reload when you get home. If you stick to use as MP3 player, you will take about ten hours continuously. Results far too low for comfortable use of 5220.

The network side of the grip, the results are much better. If it captures the Edge, the terminal does this correctly and it is very uncommon for bars decreased sensitivity. Communications are possible even in environments where the network is not optimal. Another plus for conversations: acoustics. Clear, it has no echo phenomenon either in transmission or reception.
MP3 Player

The music interface of 5220 Xpress Music is definitely its strong point. The application is controlled via buttons on the remote slice. Since these buttons, you can move forward or backward through playlists or stop playback. The hierarchy is clear and music is by artist, title, years ... The editing playlists is possible and very intuitive. For storage, the low internal memory 30 MB is supported by 512 MB memory card supplied. You can store nearly 120 songs. The food lovers will invest in a more important port of 5220 can accommodate cards up to 8 GB Acoustics speaker is very compelling. By activating some adjustments, including stereo expander, we obtain a record of very good quality. But be careful not to push the volume to maximum, the noise sounds are then heard. And if you want to play more discreet, the kit supplied stereo issue, too, good results. The earphones are comfortable and at worst, you can always plug your own headphones via the integrated jack (3.5 mm). Wireless enthusiasts have the opportunity to pair a Bluetooth headset or speakers, the 5220 is Bluetooth 2.0. Finally, an FM radio with RDS function is integrated and captures most of the stations on the FM band. However, it will connect the stereo kit that acts as an antenna.

Connectors

The connectivity of the 5220 Xpress Music is not his specialty. In fact, it only shows a compatibility with the Edge network. While the sensitivity is good but it will be difficult to download songs through the Nokia Music Store without spending a few good minutes.

For data exchange with another phone, Bluetooth is the game. As it is version 2.0 of the technology, you can also connect a compatible type speakers, speakerphone, headset ...

The USB connection is also scheduled to simplify synchronizing your phone with a computer. Too bad it has yet to install drivers to make transfers.

Camera

Music and lenses do not often go together. The 5220 is new evidence. While the MP3 player is performing as desired, the camera is limited to a resolution of 2 megapixels. The lack of autofocus cruelly leaden clichés that lack precision. The details are erased in an area of focus. The colors are not great and often duller than reality. Do not rely on flash to magnify everything, it is absent. The few available settings are as useless as the zoom function. The video statement is no more glorious. With a resolution of 0,025 Megapixel, the goal is just good enough to send MMS.

Finding on the Nokia 5220 Xpress Music

The Nokia 5220 Xpress Music has the advantage of showing good quality music for a low price. However, if the sound (both speaker stereo that the kit) and some settings are effective, autonomy is a real problem. Less demanding will be satisfied, the others will turn to another model. For the rest, the 5220 is a good communicator (sensitivity and sound convincing in conversation). Connectors and photo are too fair to be fully exploited.

Nokia 3500 Classic

The Nokia 3500 Classic has a screen with 262,144 colors, 128 x 160 pixels in dimensions of 45 x 107 x 13 mm and weighs 81 grams.

Introduction

The entry-level design begins. While the Nokia 3500 Classic retains the basic format of the mobile piece of basic Finnish manufacturer, however, he brings a touch of whimsy and elegance. Available in 4 different colors (pink, blue, green or red), the terminal displays a metallic reinforcement of the most elegant. The care given by the manufacturer to the aesthetic is also reflected in some applications. Despite its positioning as an entry-level and its price attractive, the 3500 loads a rich array of multimedia applications, more or less efficient. Review details of this not so mobile "Classic" than that.

Positive points:

Negatives:

- Memory card not included

Package Contents

Like the 3110, Nokia 3500 Classic comes with the bare minimum. USB cable and stereo kit are the only concessions made by the manufacturer. The headphones are basic to wish n'intègrent and unfortunately no 3.5mm jack, no remote control. The absence of the more regrettable is undoubtedly that of the memory card that is sorely lacking, especially given the quality of the MP3 player.

Design

Despite a classic piece design, the Nokia 3500 Classic displays touches of originality. First the colored backlight keyboard, in perfect harmony with the color of the casing. Your choice: pink, black, green, blue or red. All around the terminal is decorated with a metallic reinforcement of the most beautiful effect. The overall finish is very robust and mobile displays a great resistance to shocks. Side template, with dimensions of 45 x 107 x 13.1 mm and weighs 81 grams, the 3500 fits easily into all your pockets. Crane, nothing exceeds. The keyboard is flat and features large keys. A godsend for writing SMS. The screen is exceptionally bright for a model of entry and display 16 million pixels. Performance normally reserved for high-end handsets. Profiles from 3500 are devoid of the usual hot keys. Only the adjustment of volume is the rendezvous.

Use

Simple and intuitive, the platform of the S40 Nokia 3500 provides excellent navigation through the menus of the mobile. The different applications are easily accessible. Communication side, the two call buttons in the front are easily identifiable. The phone calls have a remarkable acoustics. The conversations are clear. Background noise pretty well soundproofed and the caller's voice remains intelligible even in the street. The more technical data such as sensitivity and autonomy are a bit disappointing. Indeed, initially on a terminal for communication, we expected outstanding performance. The results are mixed. The hook is suitable network in major cities and areas of good coverage. It will prove more laborious indoor. The battery is, in turn, well if you're not a big consumer telephony. A rate of 2 to 3 hours of calls per day, you'll overlook the charger for about 4 days. A performance decrease if you use Bluetooth.

MP3 Player

The music function is undoubtedly the best feature of the Nokia 3500. Certainly, the mobile can replace your MP3 player, but it is a good backup option. The sound distilled by the speaker is convincing. If it is not advisable to take undue advantage of the volume at risk of seeing the first crackling, the general report is appropriate. The 3500 even has a 6-band equalizer (pop, rock, jazz, classic, Game 1, Game 2). The profiles do not change, unfortunately not enough noise to make them useful. For the playlist, the internal memory will prove soon enough. The only solution is to invest in a memory card format micro SD. We regret that Nokia has not had a good idea to provide one. The stereo kit is rather disappointing. Basic desire to, it includes neither remote nor standard jack. The sound is average and the earphones relatively unstable in the ear. One of the best solution is connecting a Bluetooth stereo headset.

Connectors

Terminal entry requires, the connection is not the highlight of the Nokia 3500 Classic. Indeed, only the Edge of the game. Internet connections will prove so little swift. Moreover, poor quality of the "browser" is not conducive to surfing. Only satisfactory option: link Yahoo! Go that lets you check your mailbox. If IR is not at the rendezvous, we find the USB connection and Bluetooth. The cable comes with the phone. Shame we have installed the drivers prior to synchronize your device with your computer. The Bluetooth stereo and allows, in addition to sending content to another phone, connect a wireless headset.

Camera

The Nokia 3500 Classic is equipped with a camera 2 million pixels with a zoom but lacks flash. The function allows for multiple settings:

- Night mode
- With timer
- With photo series
- Effects
- White balance

Settings
- Image quality (high, normal, basic)
- Picture size (1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 800 x 600, 640 x 480, 320 x 240 160 x 120)
- Timeout photo
- Sons of the camera
- Default Title
- Storage

The large number of settings is not necessarily synonymous with quality photo sensor. Indeed, the range of options we would have preferred the presence of AF. The latter would have provided a real contrast images that is sorely lacking. First and second terms coincide in a general sense of vague. The level of detail is a bit too tight for a transfer to computer is helpful. Ditto for printing paper that highlights the pixels. The colors are doing well, at least until the lighting conditions are optimal. When the brightness decreases, subjects and darken the blacks get too deep.

Video
The video function also allows its usual settings:

- Video clip length (by default, maximum)
- Video clip quality (high, normal, basic)
- Video resolution (176 x 144, 128 x 96)

As usual, the video function is disappointing. The resolution is too low for the rendering of good quality. The MMS remains the only viable use.

Conclusion

Available for less than 150 € without subscription, the Nokia 3500 Classic has an excellent quality / price ratio. The design is attractive and durable finish. The music function is compelling. Too bad it is not backed by a good stereo kit and a memory card. Photography is disappointing, but will satisfy less demanding. We regret that the communication functions are not a little better on a device primarily intended for that purpose.

Nokia 3110 Classic

The Nokia 3110 Classic has a screen with 262,144 colors, 128 x 160 pixels in dimensions of 108.5 x 45.7 x 15.6 mm and weighs 87 grams.
The Nokia 3110 Classic has a camera, 1.3 megapixel, 8x digital zoom, video camera. It also has bluetooth, infrared.
It has an internal memory, and has a microSD card slot (up \ to 2 GB). The Nokia 3110 Classic is compatible with EDGE / Triband (GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900).
It is available in stores since August 2007 at a cost of 8 € (cons € 229).

Nokia aimed at all types of mobile phone users. In this concern, if the manufacturer gives careful attention to these by focusing on developing NSeries mobiles more and more powerful, do not neglect the sector entries range. The 3110 Classic is certainly not a monster but technology does not limit the basic rudiments. As proof, he joined an MP3 player, FM radio, camera 1.3 megapixel ... Certainly the quality is not the same as the high-end devices but the price either. The 3110 does offer good value for features / price? Furthermore, by diversifying the rudimentary functions of communications, said mobile base fails to do so does not it?

Positives:
- Robust design
- Music Features correct
- Price
- FM Radio
Negatives:
- Memory card not included
- Too basic stereo kit
- No 3.5 mm jack

Package Contents

The delivery package of the Nokia 3110 is, as the phone name suggests, classic. Nothing extraordinary program! The kit is limited to a minimum. The USB cable will facilitate transfers from the phone to a computer or timing. The kit is of poor stereo invoice and distilled rather sizzling sound. In addition, the headphones are far from comfortable. The lack of memory card is harmful in light of compelling music features.

Found in the box:
- The Nokia 3110 Classic
- Charger
- A USB cable
- A stereo kit
- The manual
- An installation CD

Design

Classic! The designation of 3110 takes its full extent in terms of design of the terminal. The inspiration for the mythical 3220 is undeniable. Candy Bar, the terminal displays a medium-frame worthy of the first "candy bar" of manufacturer: 108.5 x 45.7 x 15.6 mm and weighs 87 grams. In front, the display 262 000 colors has a satisfactory resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. While his size is a bit cramped but amply sufficient to viewing photos. Part of the joystick is more basic. Besides the directional buttons, there are two call buttons and two shortcuts to menus or directory. The keyboard features large keys, spaced far enough apart. Entering numbers or text is comfortable and errors are very rare. The camera back home to the camera. The hull is sturdy and opens easily to install the SIM card or micro-SD. The general quality of finish is remarkable. All materials are fully assembled and no game or grinding can be reported. Stripped to the possible ranges of 3110 that are home keys volume adjustment. At the top, the power button starting. Finally, the underside of the mobile home to the battery connector and minijack.

Use

Despite compelling music applications, the Nokia 3110 is intended primarily for communication. The sound is remarkable in conversation. No sizzle to report. Ditto for the echo. The caller's voice remains intelligible even in a noisy environment. Hand grip network, the mobile operates mainly on the Edge. However, the sensitivity sometimes shows some signs of weakness, particularly in areas defined as 'difficult' (indoor, country ...). In areas of good coverage, the bar hangs decline only very rarely. Also a mixed review for autonomy. The latter will allow you to skip the charger for four good days. Performance certainly correct, but that would have been better on a terminal, a priori devoid of energy-hungry features (WiFi, GPS, 3G ...).

Connectors

Followers of the mobile Internet, go your way! The Nokia 3110 displaying a compatibility Edge, surfing may be laborious. Especially since the browser is far from ergonomic. Only consolation prize: the link to the portal Yahoo! Go The latter allows you to easily access your mail. You can even view your attachments. However, impossible to modify. For the exchange to a computer or mobile phone, the 3110 has a USB connection or Bluetooth stereo. With it, you can exchange photos and videos or connect a compatible headset. An excellent alternative to the kit supplied stereo.

MP3 Player

Despite its entry-level position, the Nokia 3110 Classic has an MP3 player. And nothing to spoil the quality is at the rendezvous. While the acoustics of the speaker can not compete with that of a Walkman mobile stamped, but the sound is clear. The bass do not stifle the voices too. Provided, however, do not take undue advantage of the volume. An equalizer is also present. The 6 profiles pre-recorded music (pop, rock, jazz, classic, Game 1, Game 2) are too close and do not alter the sound enough to be truly useful. To take full advantage of the MP3 player, you should invest in a micro SD card. Indeed, the internal memory is ridiculous and no card is delivered home. Another tip to purchase: a stereo headset. One supplied with the phone and the headset is any uncomfortable. Audio connector side, the 3110 offers a mini-jack 2.5 mm. We would have preferred a 3.5 mm jack model. Note that a FM radio lets you listen to your favorite stations.

Camera

The Nokia 3110 features a camera with a resolution of 1.3 million pixels. The application offers several settings:

- Night mode
- With timer
- With photo series
- Effects
- White balance

Settings
- Image quality (high, normal, basic)
- Picture size (1280 x 1024, 1280 x 960, 800 x 600, 640 x 480, 320 x 240 160 x 120)
- Timeout photo
- Sons of the camera
- Default Title
- Storage

Despite a surprising array of options on a particular type of terminal, the record is too often true. In fact, you'll adjust fine quality and size at most anything will do, the images still suffer from a lack of precision of the dive. Moreover, the slow onset usually causes large areas of blur on the photos. The lack of autofocus layouts deprives a real contrast between the first and second place. Only colors emblent be coping well, at least until the brightness is at the appointment. Indeed, the lack of flash off all night shots even at night and indoor shots. In the end, the photo function is more fun than useful. Transfer pictures to a computer is not necessary. Printing is not recommended.

Video

- Video clip length (by default, maximum)
- Video clip quality (high, normal, basic)
- Video resolution (176 x 144, 128 x 96)

If the photo is average, what about the video. Often overlooked by manufacturers, even on high-end terminals, the function is useless here. The few supporters of MMS may be able to find their account, others will rapidly forget this application.

Finding on the Nokia 3110 Classic

"Classic", the 3110 is essentially by design. Its look "already seen" does not seduce followers of design. For the rest, the mobile offers compelling music features. If they are not able to replace your MP3 player, they constitute an interesting alternative. Too bad the kit delivery is so poor. Musicphone satisfactory, the 3110 can not claim to be the cameraphone in the light of the poor quality of his goal. Less basic than its name suggests, however, would have won the 3110 autonomy and sensitivity a bit more efficient. Two essential features of a terminal that is aimed primarily at fans of communication.

Nokia 2720 Fold

The Nokia 2720 Fold has a screen 65 536 colors, 120 x 160 pixels, 1.8 inches in dimensions of 93 x 46 x 17.9 mm and weighs 90 grams.
The Nokia 2720 Fold has a 1.3 megapixel camera. It also has bluetooth.
It has an internal memory of 9 MB The Nokia 2720 Fold is compatible with the dual band networks.
It is available since December 2009 in retail stores from 1 € (€ cons NC).
Introduction

The first reaction to the sight of this phone is probably the following: Is this a joke? Although degrading but at the same time natural, this matter has yet not the answer to why many people expect. Entry, the Nokia 2720 Fold has certainly no chance to build a reputation in a ruthless market, but it appears not yet completely helpless either. So what benefits can come from this well-Mobile claims to almost zero?

Package Contents

It would go almost unnoticed, yet for a phone of this class, there is no a priori significant failure on the box. Extremely simple, as the product to which it relates, there is no risk of saturation or impression of disorder at the opening, which does not require a copy storage (no need to make useless efforts). With this mini-cabinet, Nokia is demonstrating its commitment to reduce its impact on the environment by using less packaging.

You'll understand the subsistence minimum will be offered, namely the charger, instruction manual and a pair of headphones for handsfree and listening to music. No micro SD card? You would do anything, there is no slot for ... ditto for the USB cable connecting the terminal to the PC, it is declared absent.

Use and ownership

How to tell? The grip will be like all the rest easy! First element which everyone expects: your phone will not evidently not touch! This is simply a normal phone, clamshell, as seen frequently before the invasion and success experienced by smartphones. With very discrete sizes (93 x 46 x17, 85 mm) and lightweight (90.3 grams), the Nokia 2720 Fold remind all nostalgic their first phones, while providing an opportunity for purists have a phone designed ... to call.

We will not beat around the bush for hours: this phone is in no way intended for the general public need to win at all costs. Nokia has chosen by a customer left out by developments in hyper-speed market, namely the huge opposition to technological but also the elderly struggling to integrate into the movement or even the People with vision problems. The performance of the same mobile explaining the interest of the first case, the other two still deserve an explanation. With hints of a size for the amplified targets and disproportionate to the malcontents, but also with a unique menu of simple and mind-blowing display on the home screen again expanded, become more comfortable handling.

A few words about the physics of the machine: all the buttons are clearly within the mobile. Logically one exception, namely for controlling the volume (+ / -). For the remaining two outlets distributed evenly on both sides of Mobile: left, the headphone output, right output charger. Inside, then, besides the basic physical keyboard, the keys "win" (green), "hang up" (red), a key serving as a shortcut to the main features of the phone above the button "win" a button leading directly to the directory, above the button "hang up" button and a larger, lying between the previous four, and taken directly to the menu.

Features

They obviously are not legion, but again we told you so. For the bare minimum, you will have a care in all seriousness with the manufacturer, but without insulting the Nokia 2720 Fold, if you expect something that is of the order of a high class phone , go your way if you have not already done so.

So you have at your disposal some basic games, a directory, a calendar with alarms, the options desk type calculator or SMS / MMS, but you will have access to any extras, which confirms the policy of spotted the outset: the Nokia 2720 Fold banishes the superfluous to focus only on the functional necessities.

Multimedia and connectivity

A light will feel better about it from the extreme simplicity which prevailed previously. Do not ignite, it does not mention Wi-fi connection type, or you still do not understand that this phone shuns complexity like the plague. There still small efforts of the team builder Nokia 2720 Fold Bluetooth 2.0 (no stereo version was called "small efforts") and a camera with a power of 1.3 megapixels (not wonderful but it remains a small step for a mobile friendly supposed to stick to the subsistence minimum).

Conclusion

Very easily (no pun doubtful), this phone should convince some customers who look with incomprehension (or disgust) the progress that are hitting the market for phones, and transform them into true handheld complex . If a user of this magnitude is not controlled, it should not subject those who do not necessarily want to follow suit, and Nokia seems to like that. With its 2720 Fold advocating a copy facility with the exclusion of any extras that would make the success of a smartphone but do not belong in this mobile input range. The minority who has the chance to be heard should certainly appreciate.
